Good For You, Tom Hodgkinson

You’ve taught the hipsters and anti-capitalists a valuable lesson about economics:
Artists need to get paid, they shouldn’t work for free and we are a micro-business. We have our own staff and costs that need to be met.
“People who can afford it will pay the £20 and those such as students and artists can pay half-price which I think is fair.”
*wipes away tears of mirth*

If one area, any area, is too expensive and you can't afford to live there, why is it a problem for you to move to somewhere cheaper? I can sort of understand it if you have a really well paid job there and you are faced with a choice between the high living costs or a long commute. Why would you want to live in London otherwise?

When London is becoming unaffordable due to mass immigration and parasitic buy-to-letters trousering vast amounts of housing benefit, then there's a problem. Plus £20 is too much for a talk with a few boring speakers - it's hardly an evening with Jacky Mason is it?

Precisely!

Can't afford an area? Suck it up! One of life's disappointments.

I dunno. Might be funnier!
