Surely a false accusation should be the same?

I am quite surprised, though, that no attempt was made to verify whether a crime had actually taken place. Aren't the police supposed to "investigate" rather than "prosecute"?Old BEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06974090439936326476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-627081175329856970.post-8406897768860185022008-08-25T11:52:00.000+01:002008-08-25T11:52:00.000+01:00"Without that little detail I think we can be conf..."Without that little detail I think we can be confident that Maidstone Police/CPS would have done its duty and subjected to the full monty of a Crown Court trial."

I think you're right...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-627081175329856970.post-37760606199153649562008-08-25T11:35:00.000+01:002008-08-25T11:35:00.000+01:00juliamUnfortunately the first step in a police inv...juliam

Unfortunately the first step in a police investigation these days is (almost) always the arrest of the alleged perp. No amount of easily obtainable evidence of the bona fides of the alleged perp (eg stable job, homeowner, no criminal record) is allowed to interfere: knock on the door, on with the handcuffs, into the police car, off to the nick, DNA/fingerprints taken, into the cells and wait for the solicitor. After 5 hours or so (or overnight if the police are particularly obdurate) out on police bail.

Mr Kali is lucky - the satnav was proof positive that he couldn't have been the perp. Without that little detail I think we can be confident that Maidstone Police/CPS would have done its duty and subjected to the full monty of a Crown Court trial.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-627081175329856970.post-42536492251810295462008-08-25T10:39:00.000+01:002008-08-25T10:39:00.000+01:00Needless torment too - a quick investigation of th...Needless torment too - a quick investigation of the satnav details, a check of the fact that she'd previously been barred from the cab firm and racially abused Mr Kali and they wouldn't have needed to arrest him at all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-627081175329856970.post-88817029547359377832008-08-25T07:59:00.000+01:002008-08-25T07:59:00.000+01:00Eight months!
