Luminous watch dials used to be radioactive. I'm not sure if the modern ones are but at a safe level. I hope it is a safe level, if I spend a day out in the sun wearing my Ratio Freediver watch you can just about use it as a reading light after dark.
Uraninite (pitchblend) was mined in the area. It is/was used to make atomic weapons. Some stones luminesce, giving off coloured light. People search for these.
Searching for gold fillings, rings etc.?
