Pandering To Beliefs....

Burglars are targeting the homes of Muslims in Lancashire who are visiting mosques during Ramadan.

Homes in Brierfield have been burgled by the men, who are believed to be Asian, during special prayer times.
Typical, coming over here, burgling the houses our native scum don't have the work ethic to be burgling... ;)

But wait, what's this?
Insp Russ Procter, of Lancashire police, said: "If we are right in thinking that these offenders are specifically targeting homes during prayer times then their actions are despicable.

"Using the holy month as an excuse to steal from homes is terrible. I am appealing for anyone with any information to come forward so that we can catch these callous thieves quickly."
So, if they were burgling the homes of football fans while they were down the pub or watching the match at the grounds, that'd be somehow less terrible?

Crime is crime, Inspector, and needs to be dealt with regardless - bending over backwards to show deference to the victim's religious beliefs shouldn't be part of the package, should it?

  1. Well, although I can see your point from a pure criminality viewpoint, I think we have all felt that (for example) mugging a helpless little old lady is somehow "more despicable" than mugging a healthy young fellow.

In other words, I think the sense of outrage is more human than technical; though I do appreciate that it is the first time I have been aware of this kind of slant. I haven't seen (say) a case of systematically burgling Christians during Sunday morning (or evening) services.

I think that if it hadn't been for the emphasis on Muslims and looking after their interests in particular, that has become commonplace in recent years, this could have been ignored even by the Ambush Predator.

It is because of that (often seemingly extreme) slant that it is hardly surprising, and entirely reasonable, that this matter be brought to wider public awareness and be commented upon by you, me and anyone else, so I am grateful that uou have afforded us that opportunity. Actually, you don't miss much at all, I have noticed...

  2. It's hard to believe that burglars would stoop so low as to break in when they know no one is there. Sometimes I just think these people have no respect for their neighbours.

Like the human side Inspector but a thought occurs, succinctly explained by changing your comment very slightly...:

Insp Russ Procter, of Lancashire police, said: "If we are right in thinking that these offenders are specifically targeting homes during prayer times then their actions should be very easy to monitor, track and charge.

Doesn't take a genius to figure this out.

Oh, but I do - in my daily round of blog-reading, I often see a story that I haven't read about anywhere else (and certainly not in the MSM). That's what makes blogging such fun :)

The modern police 'service' doesn't attract geniuses (genii..?) it seems...

  5. So are Buddhists robbing Muslim houses? Or is it Hindus? Difficult to say, as the article, in true BBC style, libels the entire continent of Asia in an attempt to airbrush out the facts.

Also, it is nice to see a visible minority receiving the patronising crap that the Fuzz usually only reserve for Joe Schmloe:

"An awareness campaign has been launched at mosques by officers, encouraging worshippers to keep windows and doors shut and locked when they leave home."

No fucking shit. Perhaps the burglars have worked this out and are breaking in anyway?
