Recently, I compared Brown to Mugabe, over the prospect of land grabs, rampant inflation, and the awful quality of his ministers.
I feel, in light of the latest development, that I need to apologise for such a grossly inaccurate and defamatory slur.
I'm sorry, Bob. What was I thinking..?
"Miscondut in a public office"? How many people have been arrested or prosecuted over - say - John Prescott's misconduct with his secretary? I also understand that the copper who topped himself on a Welsh mountain had 38 extra-marital affairs. 38!!!! Presumably those women have all been arrested for the same thing?
ReplyDeleteOf course not. As you suggest - this is a dangerous precedent. One wonders if the police would have taken action if Cameron had been the recipient of the leaked information? My guess is not - at least not yet - but one day it is likely to happen.

ReplyDeleteI wonder where he found the time. Or the energy...

Yes. I think they would.
I think they truly vieew themselves as untouchable, no matter what they do, with a mostly-spinelesss opposition, a tame police force and a tame media to go to bat for them.
Counter-terrorism officers were used. Obviously Damien Green was considered so dangerous it required nine of them. It's amazing what can be classified as Terrorism these days.
ReplyDeleteThis was a blatantly political arrest, it has the fingerprints of government all over it.
Think I understand that and you're right. Gordo is worse but as Ross said, also with Mandelson and Campbell in the mix.
