EU To British Voters: ‘You Don’t Matter’ (Part 563)

José Manuel Barroso said that in private conversations "the people who count in Britain" were thinking about joining. "I'm not going to break the confidentiality of certain conversations, but some British politicians have already told me, 'If we had the euro, we would have been better off'," he told French radio station RTL.
Someone needs to tell this gentleman that the ‘people who count’ aren’t actually the people he meets for sherry and tapas at a taxpayer-funded Euro building, whatever he may think…

  1. Depends on your definition of "better off" is! As Tina Turner might have sang -

"We don't need the bloody euro
We don't need to join the eurozone
All we want is life beyond the EU drone"

  3. Oh, but they are, Julia, they are the people who matter.

Because they will be the ones making the decision, not those other, awkward, "electorate"-type people, who can't be trusted to make the right decision.

And judging by the fact that these "discussions" have now gone public, my betting is that the decision has in fact been made.

We must just stand outside the door and wait for the grownups to come out and tell us that they have decided. They may also tell us when it's to be done, but perhaps not yet; after all, we don't really need to know at this time, do we? It's not as if we can do anyting about it.

Sadly true. A vote for Cameron's Huskie-Huggers doesn't seem to be the way out of this mess...
