Quote Of The Month

From 'Counting Cats In Zanzibar':
And then they summoned from whatever park bench he currently uses as a postal address that tramp’s mate Dolly Draper to attack Hannan on C4 News. And the best he could muster was some dismal toss-pottery about “Old Etonians”.

  1. The class warfare rhetoric was a massive failure in the Crewe bye-election but for some in the Labour Party it isn't about tactics, they genuinely do believe all that nonsense about Old Etonians.

  2. This Draper/Labour attitude is inferiority, chip on the shoulder, spite and jealousy. Etonians are just lucky to be born into money, Draper clones unlucky to be born twats.
Darwin called it natural election. he was right.

  3. A quick perusal of the UAF, Hate not Hope, Socialist Unity and similar websites tends to support your view, Ross. The true-believer ideological Left (as opposed to those who are only in it for the free porn movies) genuinely believe in the class struggle, the solidarity of the proletariat, the overthrow of capitalism and the expropriation of wealth.

I wonder if these people actually know any real members of the "working class".

If you set the chronic benefit underclass to one side - the ones who, to paraphrase the old joke about newspaper readership, don't care who runs the country so long as she's got big tits and makes sure their disability giro turns up each week - then I'd say 95% of yer average proles are in fact aspiring kulaks who want sod all to do with the ideological left.

That was what Thatcher picked up on with her encouragement of home ownership, but which the ideological Left seems neurological incapable of grasping.

  4. "neurologically" not "neurological", damnit!

Some people are dyslexic, some people can't spell, but I just seem to have this grammatical blindspot for parts of speech and what Chinese grammarians refer to as "empty words". No amount of proofreading seems to pick it, since I see what I intended, not what I wrote. Sigh!

  5. "..for some in the Labour Party it isn't about tactics, they genuinely do believe all that nonsense about Old Etonians."

A vanishing breed though, surely? The latest crop of politicians give the impression they don't believe in anything at all, other than pursuit of power for its own sake...

"I wonder if these people actually know any real members of the "working class". "

Almost certainly not. But I expect their au pairs, personal trainers and gardeners do...

  6. The old socialist labourites (Communistus wedgiebeenus) are a dying breed. They are now just crooks and liars and the terminally unhinged. Just look at Ed Balls. He is loop the loop.

What we are seeing is for two reasons. It is a desperate attemnpt to regain the white working class "British jobs for British Workers" from the clutches of the BNP etc. And it's just plain desperation. Because they know they cannot in anyway defend their record.
