Wireless 'wi-fi' technology should be removed from schools to prevent millions of children suffering a heightened risk of cancer and sterility, teachers demanded yesterday. You know, even if this turned out to be a real risk, and not a load of baloney, I'm not entirely sure that sterilising some of today's schoolchildren (and teachers) is necessarily a bad idea...
I liked this quote from the first article:
ReplyDelete"He said research from Sweden had warned about the increased cancer risk and the Government there now funds shielding agents, such as foil covered rooms and anti-radiation point."
What they couldn't afford individual tinfoil hats?
Of course not. The government should provide them!
ReplyDeleteYou know, the same government that is installing the wi-fi nwetweorks to warp children's br... oh, hang on.
LMAO!!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the inverse square law apply to radiation.....it do! So if you move a child twice as far from the surce as the first child the second with receive one quarter of the radiation dose of the first brat. So as long as the children are not all on top of the source then fine and as long as the source is weak, that's fine. The biggest problem for humans exposed to microwave radiation may be cataract formation in the eyes. This has only been demonstrated in animals and with high doses so I expect the kiddies will not unduly suffer from Wi Fi. there is rather a lot of hysteria re microwaves and very little science.
"there is rather a lot of hysteria re microwaves and very little science."
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Ben Goldacre is doing his best, but I fear he's fighting a losing battle...
Ah, his blog about bad science is one of my faves. He does a good job of debunking science myths and other such garbage. An intelligent tour de force and rather better than the entertaining but a bit superficial Mythbusters TV prog.
