Lost: Sense Of Proportion...

...if found, please return to MEP Caroline Lucas:
When asked if flying to Spain was as bad as knifing a person in the street, Ms Lucas said: ‘Yes - because they are dying from climate change.’
Yes, that's the leader of the Green Party...
A Green Party spokesman said the comments have been taken out of context.
...before breaking into sobbing hysterics and getting on the phone to the nearest whorehouse, begging to be allowed to play the piano there, so he could tell people he had a respectable job for once.

  1. I've only taken two jet flights in my life, how many free stabs do I get?

  2. If it's at the Green party, as many as you want... ;)

  3. I have never been on a jet aircraft, and on only six (short) flights in my life. Do I get a medal :-)

  4. How do you know for certain that [human pursuits such as] flights to Spain won't lead to the deaths of hundreds, or thousands, or millions of people, or extinction of any species?
I am not trying to be funny. It is a genuine question as nobody has ever convinced me of the inadmissabilty of scientific arguments relating to man-made climate change. Few scientists doubt that human activity is a major contributor to climate change. It is true that there is controversy over the projected consequences, but I would like to know what it is that makes you (and so many other intelligent people) laugh at the Greens and at the evidence that we are destroying the planet for future generations through, amongst other things, global warming.

"...but I would like to know what it is that makes you (and so many other intelligent people) laugh at the Greens and at the evidence that we are destroying the planet for future generations through, amongst other things, global warming."Do you really think this is the first time the Earth has ever heated up?

  6. Oh, come on Blogger!

    That was two 'Enters'....!

  7. I would like to nail my colours to the mast and say... 'I don't care about alleged global warming'. There! Probably means I'm headed for the bad fire when I die.

  8. See, now I'm all intrigued. In what context doesn't this sound completely retarded?

  9. During the 2003 heat wave 14,802 people—mostly elderly—died from heat in France and there were 4,200 attributable deaths in Italy and Spain. There were about 1,500 heat related deaths in the Netherlands, again largely the elderly.

European-wide homicides rates for 2004 were 5.4 per 100,000 people or about 40000.

I love it how reactiony cunts like you lot get your bigotry so consistently violated by the facts.

  10. Ahahaha . . . of course I meant to write: "I love it how reactionary cunts like you lot . . . "

  11. I harbour no doubt that the Earth heats and cools regardless of life. The idea that releasing nearly all of the carbon in coal, gas and oil in less than a couple of centuries might affect the speed of climate change makes sense to me though, does it not to you?

  12. Of course you did, dear boy. Of course you did...

  13. "The idea that releasing nearly all of the carbon in coal, gas and oil in less than a couple of centuries might affect the speed of climate change makes sense to me though, does it not to you?"Well, I guess to a narcissist who believed that human beings were responsible for altering the course of the climate on an entire planet, yes, it would.

    Fortunately, I'm not.

  14. Yeah, but if people don't take holidays to hot places, then that hurts the economy in hot places and so they'll die instead.

And yes, people do die in heatwaves, but in Northern climes, far more die of hypothermia, so that's an irrelevance.

Every year there are around 20,000 attributable deaths in the UK caused by cold. EVERY YEAR. Those deaths could be avoided with the availability of cheap, plentiful power which the Greens wish to deprive us of. The heat wave of 2003 has never been proven to be caused by man - nor will it be because it wasn't. It was just another extreme natural weather event which there have always been and always will be.

"The idea that releasing nearly all of the carbon in coal, gas and oil in less than a couple of centuries might affect the speed of climate change makes sense to me though, does it not to you?"

No - because in the grand scheme of things all that CO2 doesn't amount to a piss in the ocean.

Man's contribution to greenhouse gases constitutes roughly 0.03% of the total. CO2 is an essential trace gas without which man could not survive.

Furthermore, far from being a pollutant CO2 is an airborne fertiliser that provides nourishment to trees, plants and grasslands. Now THAT is green!

Finally, it is well known by demonstrable evidence that in times of global warmth life on earth flourishes while it diminishes during colder spells. With that in mind one has to ask the question - what have the Greens got against life?

  16. Yes, Stan. It IS amazing how little you know about science. I bet you still own a microwave, a TV, a mobile telephone and lots of shiny plastic gadgets. I bet you take fancy, foreign holidays on huge, shiny aeroplanes with incredibly powerful engines, powered by liquid extracted from the depths of the earth and put through incredibly complex chemical processes to filter it and purify it. I bet you have never had smallpox and if you get cancer there's a strong chance you'll survive.

And I bet you have no idea what the greenhouse effect is and no idea why people in the southern hemisphere have to wear lots of sunscreen all the time, even in temperate climes, yes?

    Peasant.

  17. punkscience. People do NOT die from heat. They die from dehydration. The death toll in France was high because so many children were on the beaches in the south as the elderly stayed and slowly died in their flats in the north. The government addressed the SOCIAL problem and the next heat wave brought a sharply lower number of deaths. Apologies for not having the numbers to hand. As far as global warming, what you have written is very unscientific and given that you are in possession of a shining plastic object called a computer I suggest that you destroy yours first.

  18. Oh Dear, The melons really are Luddites aren't they.

Look up exponential error in recursive simulation to show yourself that these long-term climate models are junk^googleplex.

  19. "And I bet you have no idea what the greenhouse effect is and no idea why people in the southern hemisphere have to wear lots of sunscreen all the time, even in temperate climes, yes?"When posing as the voice of SCIENCE it is best to learn some science because otherwise you can end up confusing the depletion of the ozone layer with the greenhouse effect.

  20. "Man's contribution to greenhouse gases constitutes roughly 0.03% of the total"

I have no idea how correct this is but it's a much better answer than calling me a narcissist!

  21. "And I bet you have no idea what the greenhouse effect is and no idea why people in the southern hemisphere have to wear lots of sunscreen all the time, even in temperate climes, yes?"

You think they wear sunscreen to protect them from CO2?

A clue for you - it's that big yellow ball up in the sky.

  22. "I have no idea how correct this is but it's a much better answer than calling me a narcissist!"

It's correct - give or take a tiny percentage point. I have no idea how much of that is generated by the UK, but I suspect it is tiny - which basically is my way of saying that whatever we do does not amount to a hill of beans in the grand scheme.

Sp stop worrying and feeling guilty and start enjoying the benefits of technology and abundant power - because if the likes of Caroline Lucas get their way you won't have access to it for much longer.

  23. Caroline Lucas believes that flying to Spain is as bad as knifing a person in the street?

    Pah! That's nothing.

I believe that being a member of the Green Party is as bad as being a child molester.

    ;-)
