I reckon that lioness is suffering from gender identity disorder; she is clearly making a valiant but vain attempt at sexual congress with the buffalo.
I've read that the Cape Buffalo is the most feared animal in Southern Africa (along with hippos and crocodiles). If one decides it's going to have you, then you had better pray you a) have a serious piece of ironmongery about you (with .375 H&H Magnum at the absolute minimum, all the way up to portable cannons like .458 Lott or Weatherby Mag) and b) the ability to put the round on target. Cape Buffalo are sneaky bastards; they've been known to ambush trackers who are hunting a wounded beast.
"Cape buffalo, (different horns) Is there a prize?"
Yes. To know you're much smarter than a 'Fail' or 'Telegraph' reporter.
OK, it's not much of a prize...

Yup.
People on gamewatching drives worry about lions, crocodiles, hyaenas, but they seem to forget that their prey species sometimes wins...
Bit harsh - they got buffalo right. Trust an ambush predator to know the difference.
ReplyDeleteStolen and added to, The Fail got it wrong as well.
ReplyDelete"but you can wash your hands in a bison"
ReplyDelete;)
Just for you Pavlov's Cat
