Is It 'Cos I Is..?

A sadistic mother-of-eight beat her children with a meat mallet and branded them with a hot screwdriver during a six-year campaign of abuse and neglect.

The children, who are all under 16, were regularly hit with objects including a belt and broken coat hanger. The woman even slashed one of them with a knife.
Over a period of six years..? How can this be, when the authorities swoop on mothers who haven't quite put away all the Dulux tins and those who raise their voices to their children in shops?

Perhaps she cunningly hid from the authorities?

Ah, no:
In a disturbing echo of the failings in the Victoria Climbie and Baby P cases, social workers monitored the family for years yet failed to pick up on the abuse.
Ho, hum.
Children's charity Kidscape described the case - and Cambridgeshire County Council's failure to look after the youngsters - as 'sickening'.

...

Questioning why social workers had failed to intervene for so long, he added: 'This seems to be part of an ongoing problem with social services nationally where departments are not joined-up in their thinking process and are not sharing information effectively.'
Was this a case of poor information sharing, or is there something else, perchance?

Well...
The mother, a Jamaican national living in Cambridge...
Ah. It all becomes much clearer now...

I guess lessons weren't learned after all.

Again.

  1. Yes in victimhood poker, Black, female, trumps social worker everytime.

  2. I think we might be able to add "single mother" to her Victimhood Poker hand.

  3. No no no no.

This is not how you do it.

Any self-respecting child-hating parent just calls the cops instead of getting their own paws dirty: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34014497/ns/us_news-life/

  4. Actually here is a better link: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Taser-Girl-Stun-Gun-Used-On-10-Year-Old-In-Ozark-Arkansas-After-Bath-Time-Rage/Article/200911315457814?f=rss

The evil little brat refused to bath, and now she is up of 'disorderly conduct' charges.

  5. Given the long long run of social service failures (going back at the very least to Maria Caldell (sp) in the late 60s) I'm tempted to the conclusion that nothing can actually be done to prevent these cases, hence we might as well not spend a fortune pretending to.

  6. @ Pat: exactly right. Have the numbers of these type of cases fallen over the last 50 years, or risen? If all the money spent on social workers results in no less child abuse, we might as well just sack them all, and give cash to any kids abused in the future. At least that way they might get some recompense for their ordeals.

  7. Is this woman accused of abusing all 8 of her 'baby anchors' ?
If she is, then surely the 'baby anchor' defence against her being deported at the end of her sentance is invalidated ?
I'd like to see a deportation order recommended by the judge anyway (some hope!)- and then see if the 'human rights lawyer' who'll defend her 'right to family life' can do so with a straight face.
Then again, for a fee, lawyers are capable of almost anything!

  8. The strange thing is, the children would be the same colour as their mother, so their Victimhood Poker scores should be similar.

  9. Mark, genius.

Anon, yes, their VP scores are similar, but in VP world the perpetrator is seen as the victim (and the actual victims as fairly irrelevant), so Mum will always be slightly ahead.

Plus the kids were presumably born here, so definitely lose in the 'nationality' round (Jamaican trumps British every time).

Also, it is important to remember that where e.g. young Paki women get married off to their uncles, that's part of their culture and hence acceptable, were a white, English family to try this, they'd get slaughtered for child trafficking.

  10. Not a good day for the reputation of social workers:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/baby-p/6606365/Heroin-addicted-social-worker-struck-off-over-cover-up-of-own-childs-abuse.html

in addition to the social worker who was struck off today for filming up women's skirts and the female one who is alleged to be part of a child pr0n ring.

If they keep inventing new cards, this is going to be a very long game... ;)

"The evil little brat refused to bath, and now she is up of 'disorderly conduct' charges."

I bet there's more than a few parents saying 'Oh, I wish..' right now!

    What possessed him?

"...I'm tempted to the conclusion that nothing can actually be done to prevent these cases, hence we might as well not spend a fortune pretending to."

There's a certain amount of cold logic to that, and to sobers' suggestion, it's true.

As a Jamaican national, she may well have dual citizenship, perhaps?
