Overstepping Their Bounds?

Or just getting in some practice for when they make this legal and a normal part of policing?
Yesterday, as royals including Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and his daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, made their way on foot from Sandringham House in Norfolk to St Mary Magdalene church, a senior police officer confiscated dozens of cameras from the crowd.
Say what?

And the people just let him do it..?! Truly, we get the treatment we deserve from our 'public servants'...
Norfolk Police admitted the Royal Family had not asked them to act and said the move had been a mistake.
Jumped the gun, did you? Cretins...
A spokesman for Norfolk Police, said: 'An officer, in error, requested cameras from members of the public. We will be allowing the public to keep their cameras, in accordance with a long-standing agreement.'
You'll be 'allowing them', eh? How good of you...

  1. You're right, I suspect the day is coming when they'll have/use that power and there'll be no recourse from the public to stop them.

I picked up on the same thing on mine.

  3. Should have confiscated trousers and used the rectal probe - on the off chance any bum was hiding explosives.

  4. I'll put money into a fund to prosecute this police state officer.

  5. That's the kind of county I always wanted to live in - one where the police allow people to keep their cameras.

Perhaps one day I will be permitted to have a recreational vehicle.

What do you mean "when"? Seriously? The bastards, especially plastics, routinely take the piss with S.44, and while there's little doubt they're abusing it S.44 is genuine.

  8. So when is this officer being arrested for theft?

If not, when is his Chief Constable being sacked?

  9. "Is that not theft?"

Technically, probably not. It seems no-one challenged the right of this bumptious little fool to do it, so they would probably get away with claiming the cameras were 'volunteered'.

"I'll put money into a fund to prosecute this police state officer."

This is where the Tories could, if they had any political nous, make a lot of capital by announcing that this sort of decision would lead to sanctions in future. But they won't.

"Read the comments in the mail..there are pissed off people out there, and the numbers are rising."

    Indeed. Sadly, talk is cheap...
