Eh..?
Oh, no. Not Brown slinking off to well-deserved obscurity and oblivion. I just learned that Frank Frazetta died...
Ah, well. As one ignominious politician drives off into the sunset, one of the greats makes his dignified exit.
Vale, Frank. May large breasted Amazons and sword-wielding warriors sing thee to thy rest.
Oh shit, that's really sad. I'm a huge Frazetta fan. Thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I was in a good mood too.
ReplyDeleteAh, a big loss. I grew up reading trashy sci fi and fantasy in his covers.
ReplyDeleteMost CGI fantasy seems to be trying to make his worlds move, I think
Can't help thinking he probably brought more fun into peoples' lives than many a trendy 'modern artist.'

"Ah, a big loss. I grew up reading trashy sci fi and fantasy in his covers."
ReplyDeleteMe too!
Then you'll be delighted to know that Disney are to release a film version of 'A Princess of Mars' in 2012. Frazetta's art enticed many an adolescent dope like me to read Burroughs' Barsoom stories in the first place. Hormones, Frazetta's magical brush strokes and Yankee pot boiler prose working in perfect and constructive harmony.
