So Unlike The Home Life Of Our Own Dear Queen…

So, we have a man and his son going to beat up a pregnant daughter who has had several relationships with different men (all of a somewhat ‘exotic’ nature, shall we say?), watched by one of those spawn (whose sperm-donor is currently in jail). The son urinates on his sisters front doorstep, headbutts her, and bites her face, all the while her father yells racial abuse at her.

I think we’ve found out why the nations football team isn’t really much use, if it contains ‘men’ such as these…

I did rather like the prosecution’s description of the current sperm-donor, though:

'The father of the child she was carrying is also a mixed race gentleman.'
He later went round to stab the son in the legs, so ‘gentleman’ wouldn’t have been my preferred term…

  1. Well fucking hell,if I had a pregnant girl friend and someone did that to her Id do more than stab the bastards in the leg,it would be a chain saw across the shits neck.

  2. Fisticuffs, Peperbarmi, not knives. Fisticuffs!

That's how a gentleman fights for his lady's honour.

Though it helps if she's the type who occasionally puts up a struggle for it herself...

  3. The carefulness of 'gentleman', of course, may actually put up the hackles of the ultra-politically correct. What a verbal minefield for the lawyers involved, knowing that the tabloids would lap this up and their every utterance would be spread across the papers.

And as for the genetic make-up of the foetus involved - maternal relatives behaving like something out of a zoo and father more like the mafia...

I saw this story in the news last year and wondered if we were looking at something like that skater case in the US - what does it say about the UK that the truth is so much worse?

  4. As the years have rolled by and I have seen a seemingingly endless stream of articles like this, each one setting a new low in terms of disgusting behaviour, I have gradually moved from a view of the justice system as rehabilitation to one of punishment and have now reached a point where I think whips, chains and the rope are the only thing that can get us back to a civilised society.

    If I was in charge.......

  5. I don't think it's fair to slag off the victim to the extent you're doing, Julia. She's in a relationship with the father of her coming child. He hasn't run off or anything, and in fact takes her seriously enough that he avenges her for an attack like this. Complaining that he avenged her in the wrong way is nit-picking -- personally, I applaud the imaginitive aptness of stabbing a star footballer in the leg. Besides, he's pleading guilty: he knows what he did was illegal and is willing to take the consequences. Gentleman. (Unlike her shit-head brother, who is pleading not guilty to headbutting a pregnant woman and biting her face on the grounds of self-defence.) She already has one child from one previous partner. Big deal. Doesn't make her a slag. The twin facts that the ex is in jail and she's now with someone else could well imply that she left him when she discovered he was a criminal. And she demonstrably isn't the vicious racist her brother and father are.

I just don't see any reason for your cheap jibes at her.

Hey, nice to know we can beat the Yanks at something!

"As the years have rolled by and I have seen a seemingingly endless stream of articles like this, each one setting a new low in terms of disgusting behaviour..."

It's like we're in some ghastly downwatrd spiral of debauchery...

"Complaining that he avenged her in the wrong way is nit-picking -- personally, I applaud the imaginitive aptness of stabbing a star footballer in the leg."

    Seriously? Good grief!

Look, if he'd given him a hiding, fair go. But you don't use a weapon on an unarmed man. Even if you DO plead guilty afterwards. That doesn't make it right!

"I just don't see any reason for your cheap jibes at her."

I don't think anyone in this case comes out of it well, and I'm not about to give someone a pass for their gender.

It may well be that the fragrant damsel in this case is amazingly unlucky in her choice of partners, each time selecting Dr Jekyll and being unaware of Mr Hyde.

    It may well be.

But I'm going to place my money down on 'no'...

  7. I didn't say pleading guilty makes it right. Quite the opposite: I said that he himself is admitting it was illegal and not trying to dispute it. And I'm not suggesting you give anyone a pass for their gender. The reason it's rather unair to slag this woman off is not that she's a woman; it's that she hasn't done anything to deserve it.

As far as I can see, you're insulting this poor woman who is the victim of a rather nasty attack by her own bastard family on the grounds that she used to be with someone who is now in jail (do you know what for?) and she is now with someone who did -- and I know you're not interested in having kids, so maybe you don't appreciate this -- pretty-much exactly what anyone would do to someone who violently threatened their child. I avoid violence like the plague and haven't been in a fight in over twenty years. My wife is currently pregnant. Beat her up and discover just what I'm willing to plead guilty to.

What do you think of Jamie Foxx's statement about Roman Polanski, may I ask? Cause I thought it showed a far better attitude to parenting than the rest of Hollywood managed in the face of Polanski.

See, I'm very much a believer that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I don't think she's necessarily the one shining light in that family, untouched by any of their flaws...

"...she is now with someone who did -- and I know you're not interested in having kids, so maybe you don't appreciate this -- pretty-much exactly what anyone would do to someone who violently threatened their child."

Sounds a lot more like jealous possessiveness to me. I'm afraid that caveman attitude does nothing for me.

It might be acceptable in the heat of the moment - fight or flight defence - I'll grant you that.

But afterwards, when the danger has passed?

    That's not defence. That's revenge.

    Frankly?

Typical boastful celebrity behaviour, pontificating on a subject he really had no need to comment on at all.

  9. Am I missing something? The case is still ongoing and the whole thing could be a pack of lies - lies scribbled on the back of a race card - made up by a spiteful little mare annoyed that her latest babyfather is in the nick.

Of course, it may be that Calum Davenport is a repellent little scumbag. Point is we don't know yet, surely?

  10. Hmm,

Reading the report in my local rag that's just dropped through the door, he doesn't seem to deny biting her, which ain't good.

Well, let's bear that in mind next time you write about an honour killing, then.

  12. "Acquitted."

    I'm surprised, actually!

I note that the father of the four-year-old is now revealed as an armed robber!

I wonder if (assuming her complaints of her fathers's racism were true) there wasn't a little bit of 'I'll show Daddy!' in her choice of partners...?

"Well, let's bear that in mind next time you write about an honour killing, then."

Those honour killings which aren't just fathers and uncles, but sometimes brothers and (incredibly) sisters enthusiastically joining in would seem to prove me right, no..?
