I Really Can't See That The Judge Had Any Choice...

...although a prison sentence seems a bit harsh, would a huge fine and community service really send the right message to others?
A woman, who claimed she was raped, was jailed for eight months after admitting that she falsely dropped the charges.
This sounds awfully like one of Insp Gadget's Mugabe Close cases, when the circumstances as outlined by the 'Mail' are looked at carefully:
..the woman made a 999 call to police in November last year claiming she had been raped six times by her husband.
But later she told police she wanted to drop the charges - although she said they were true.
When police said they would carry on with the prosecution she changed her mind and said the allegations were false.
Police then said they would prosecute the woman for perverting the course of justice.
She again changed her mind saying the rapes had happened but she had been persuaded by her husband and his family to drop the charges because he could face a long jail sentence, but she would only get a few months if anything at all.
This is, sadly, the inevitable result of the irresistible force of Harman and Baird's 'prosecute for rape at all costs!' policies meeting the immovable object of a certain section of society and their unshakable belief that the police and courts are there to serve as a marriage guidance and arbitration service...
When the wife met the prosecution team she revealed that when her husband had visited her and the children over Christmas, they had consensual sex.
'The crown started to worry about their case,' said Mr Parry.
By February 11 the wife went to police and said the allegations were untrue. She was arrested and charged with perverting the course of justice.
By July 30 she said the rape allegations were true and the retraction was false.
By this stage, who knows what to believe?

Other than this is an insane way to run a justice system...

  1. We've sort of gone round the clock here, if people are being imprisoned for wrongly withdrawing correct accusations etc. Not sure what to think any more.

  2. because an allegation of rape false or not has now been so migrated from the most serious of allegations that women and the CPS routinely use it as some sort of gambit.

there may well be some wrongdoing in this case but the simple fact that women and the CPS can publicly waive the rape flag with little or no concequences for doing so falsely debases victims of rape, innocent men and our justice system.

every allegation must now, in private face rigerous tests before proceeding. until and only if a crime has been proven beyond a resonable doubt should we then inform the public who we all know at the best of times run around like chicken licken with the slightest provocation.

girls and young women must be taught that using the label of pervert or rapist is not funny, and will, if done inappropriately or for revenge or power have very serious concequences. It has almost come to a point where men are being routinely raped buy women who use this form of bullying perhaps for good reason but not because they have been raped. it must stop, now.

Indeed we have. What a hideous mess the coalition has inherited. And I don't think we've even seen the worst of that, yet...

Indeed. And it's going to take one hell of a cleaning for this particular Augean Stables. Where's our Hercules..?
