I call our local rag "asbo weekly" though in fairness it is more these days about savage cuts and wheelie bin fires rather than just, er, wheelie bins going up in flames and the resulting puddle of plastic
As for checking... you'd be amazed at what journos don't know. But they do have 'pinions. Lots and lots of them on all sorts of injustices, both real and imagined.
Hmmm 'check'...not a word I'd associate naturally with the Press...especially the 'Rabbit Breeder and Sheep Farmer weekly' local sort of rag.
