”Ain’t that a kick in the head…”

Teenage thugs who left a man with life-threatening injuries after a brutal nightclub assault have been sentenced.
Yeah, we’re back to this again…
Beau Feighan, aged 18, and 19-year-olds David Lee Macdonald and Jordan Harris left their victim in a coma after kicking his head “like a football”.
Did the victim recover?

No:
Anthony Laywood, 46, is still recovering from the attack outside of Oceana and cannot work or drive.
So, big sentences, right?

Wrong:
Feighan was handed four years imprisonment for GBH with intent, Macdonald received 12 months for unlawful wounding and four months for ABH, and Harris was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
Pathetic…

  1. I wonder what the sentence would be if they picked on the son of a judge?
There might be a link between this type of violence and the general inadequacy of our CJS that makes these goons feel justified in what they do - until they have to say otherwise facing penalties.

  2. "He was detained by Oceana staff before he could escape."

So this continued in full view of the club?

If this had been 15 years ago in the good old days of doorwork, he would have got a lot more than detained. Something actually resembling justice may have actually been dealt out.

Obviously it's all society's fault, indeed all our faults, for not providing enough footballs, soccer training and general sporting activity for the deprived inner city youths.

    No one is innocent.

This is what happens when the government cuts things like Intensive-1-on-1 Origami Therapy in Majorca for maladjusted children.

[for the Daily Mail readers: IT IS CALLED 'SARCASM']

  4. I suppose these rather chippy references to the Daily Mail and its readership make you feel slightly better about your miserable existence SBC ?

  5. "Pathetic"
It could be considered pathetic if we knew they would serve the full sentances.
Whats pathetic with an early release?

No, nothing alleviates the pain. Daily Mail readers, or rather those of its 'readership'(and I use the word in a strictly non-literal sense) that comment on its Comments Page have a reputation among the more libertarian blogs; they do seem incapable of grasping concepts such as 'sarcasm','irony' and 'humour'.

I suppose it would depend on which judge we were talking about... ;)

"Something actually resembling justice may have actually been dealt out."

Shades of the original 'Big Society'..?

    Sadly true!

"...they do seem incapable of grasping concepts such as 'sarcasm','irony' and 'humour'."

And often 'punctuation' and 'English' too.

  8. Just to add:

In my last few years on the doors we have intervened in a number of incidents within a block's radius of the club including stopping several muggings, two attempted rapes and many beatings.

In every case the people we rescued had no desire to go to the police because they knew that we would get the blame from the police, not their would-be attackers.

I'm so glad I'm leaving South Yorkshire behind....
