A woman who was used by Hampshire police to spearhead an honour-based violence campaign has been jailed after making up a story that she had been gang raped.
Whoops!
Ikea cleaner Syeda Ali was the victim who told her harrowing story of sustained abuse and helped drive an awareness campaign about the crime.
But, jailing her for three years, a judge told the 30-year-old mum-of-three only prison would suffice after she concocted a story of abduction and rape by three men who were then arrested.
The three years isn’t just for the false rape claim, mind you. It’s mostly for her
other offences:
Ali also carried out 16 frauds, by filling out false loan applications and submitting them to her employer, Provident Personal Credit Ltd.
Naturally, it’s not her fault:
Mitigating, Jonathan Simpson said Ali was of previous good character and was found to have a personality disorder.
Really..?
nice kill btw Julia, how many points and how did he taste?
ReplyDeletePrevious good character according to the police computer which only lists convictions in this country.Who knows what she had done before she got here?
ReplyDeleteJaded
I am thoroughly shocked. Right through, I tell you.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the outcome would have been very different for this 30-year old evidence fixer if Hampshire police still had the funds to recruit.
Ahhhh the UK PNC, font of all knowledge and truth, my arse ;)
ReplyDeleteAnon if you look again you'll find its changed, insert update, lol
women never lie about rape and this happens rarely don't ya know?
ReplyDeleteThe police must take all alegations of rape seriously regardless of how much of a bunch of usless twats it makes them look
Julia, when asking about the points and taste I was reffering to the stag btw ;)
ReplyDeleteMTG,you've confused me now. Is that a pro-police comment or anti? Are you softening in your old age?
ReplyDeleteJaded
@ Jaded
ReplyDeleteYour attacks are so focussed upon me they neglect intelligent attempts to address any of Julia's topics, concurrently.
Humour me with a modicum of effort to appear much smarter than you are, dear.
"Humour me with a modicum of effort to appear much smarter than you are, dear."
ReplyDeleteActually Jaded is fairly smart. It takes a special kind of Troll to pretend to be a police man for so long and so convincingly. His level of technical knowledge is impressive and I'd guess he is one of those 'Wannabe Policemen Receptionists' at his local nick. He sounds exactly like a lot of the coppers I know.
[TOTALLY OFF TOPIC] a while back Jools posted a piece about 10 year olds being held overnight in the cells. Last night my a-dolt (no I haven't misspelt it) son was in the cells overnight. He's a type 1 diabetic and a class 1 twat. The police had him checked thrice by a doctor during the night just to be sure he was alright! Can you imagine what that cost? Anyways it shows how good care they take of 'vulnerable prisoners'.
Slightly confused here. Do we also assume that she had pretended to be a victim of honour based violence'?
ReplyDeleteWhere did the Police find her?
SBC-define what a troll is? Someone who disagrees with you?
ReplyDeleteGot to go now, someone producing their documents at the front desk.
Jaded
@ Shinar
ReplyDeleteJaded leaves her apologies having gone to the Trollenberg Health Spa at short notice. She was just helping out a journo at the front desk when a mix up arose. You know, the type that mixes up documents and holiday tickets? Well it was that type, mmm.
"SBC-define what a troll is? Someone who disagrees with you?"
ReplyDeleteNo, someone who disagrees with me is called a'zaphod' or a 'captain haddock' or 'furor teutonicus' or 'MTG' or 'SAOT' or 'Angry Exile' or 'SAOT' or 'English Viking' or 'Budvar' ...infact you'd be hard pressed to find any regular here that doesn't disagree with me at least once a week. Even j00lz.
"nice kill btw Julia, how many points and how did he taste?"
ReplyDeleteHe was my first 9 pointer in the game, I completed an achievement! Sadly, still have to buy my venison in Waitrose...
"Previous good character according to the police computer which only lists convictions in this country.Who knows what she had done before she got here?"
Good point! Or done here, and not been caught.
"The police had him checked thrice by a doctor during the night just to be sure he was alright! Can you imagine what that cost? Anyways it shows how good care they take of 'vulnerable prisoners'."
Indeed. But the one time they slip up, it'll be 'Mail' headlines in 42 point type. All the other cases will go unremarked.
"Do we also assume that she had pretended to be a victim of honour based violence'? "
That suspicion has to be there, doesn't it?
