Are You Listening, Ken Clarke? Pt 2

Violent crime plunged in parts of London after the summer riots because so many thugs were locked up, police figures suggest.
What a shocker. Even the judges seem to be getting the message loud and clear.
In Croydon the number of violent offences fell 20 per cent in the four weeks after the August disturbances compared with the four weeks before.

Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell, who obtained the figures from borough police, said: "That shows very clearly that putting those offenders away has worked in reducing crime in the short term. It shows a very significant reduction.

"Rather than [the riots] being a spontaneous protest, in Croydon there was significant amount of organisation. Gang culture was certainly at the core of crime in our town."
Who doesn't know that already?
The Croydon statistics were revealed as Met figures showed that big rises in the burglary and robbery rates could have eased as more police were deployed following the riots.
So, locking up the scum and getting more police on the streets is the answer? Well, gosh, someone needs to ensure Ken Clarke is made aware of the question, then.

Of course, the usual suspects immediately mount their familiar hobby horses:
In the Commons debate on the riots, Mark Field warned of "worrying signs" of a "tipping point" where gang culture was out of control.

Mr Field, Tory MP for Cities of London & Westminster, called for more spending on activities for children out of school. "I do believe we need to look at youth community services and if we are to make a genuine long-term impact, it has to be one of the legacies of ensuring these riots don't happen again," he said.
Yes, if only this poor, disadvantaged youth had something to do, eh?
Tottenham MP David Lammy recalled the Broadwater Farm riots of 1985 when he was a boy and said it was "a tragedy" that his constituency had been hit by rioting twice in a generation.
He makes it sound as if it was a meteor strike, something totally unrelated to the people of the area…
Tory MP David Davies said more black and Asian police officers were needed so that forces were trusted more by the communities they served.
Really? You think that'll help?

  1. Why do we keep repeating the same mistakes ones that are based on the same basic premise that social justice must take priority over all other considerations. We have been doing this for decades now and the end result is plain to see in our current economic and social crisis. Social justice is an admirable aim and it would be wrong not to strive for it. However putting social justice first is akin to putting the cart before the horse. It is not the aim that is wrong but how we are going about achieving it. By putting social justice first which entails making many economic sacrifices for the few by the many has ended up taking social justice away from the many at cost that has now become unaffordable socially and economically. So it is a double whammy social justice is now the preserve of one minority section of society and at the same time has impoverished economically and socially the other much larger section of society. What is worse this largess donated by those in society who are largely law abiding and contribute to society are not rewarded by gratitude or rehabilitation by the the recipients of this largess.

  2. Actually, more police officers with balls, common sense and a sense of dignity are required.

I could not give a shit what hue these people are, but we need to stop lowering the standards and requirements to enable the police to hire people just because they are of a specific ethnicity.

Several years of BEE style hiring have shown that this does not work.

  4. "Why do we keep repeating the same mistakes ? .... "

I'd like to think that they were mistakes .. Instead, I'm convinced that the policy is well-planned and deliberate, encompassing the entire UK political spectrum ..

Rather like the Irish and the In/Out EU Referendum .. TPTB and their hand-wringing, excuse-making bed fellows will keep hammering away until we're so sick of hearing the same old shite repeated ad-nauseam that people will finally stop arguing with them, simply for a cessation of the brainwashing ..

Then, having achieved their objective, they will be able to trumpet from the roof tops about how right they were all along .. and justify even more of our money being poured into the bottomless pit of so-called Social Justice ..

As for the call to recruit more ethnic Police officers, I fail to see how the Police could do any more to achieve this .. the real answer lies within the ethnic communities themselves, who have consistently shown that they have little or no desire to be involved with the Police (unless receiving some sort of "gift") .. those few who do choose to join the Police, very often being ostracised by their own kind ..

  6. "Tory MP David Davies said more black and Asian police officers were needed so that forces were trusted more by the communities they served."

Um...wouldn't this logically mean that they then become less trusted by those pesky white folks who haven't managed to flee the enrichment? (not that their views count for anything of course).

  7. Ken Clarke is the Tories token buffoon-a trend started by Tony Blair by leaving John Prescott in high office.
I really dislike him.I cannot forgive him for standing on the same platform with that treacherous snake Mandelson campaigning to give more powers to Europe whilst in opposition.Treasonable offence.
I have a long memory and I remember trying to wreck the police in 1994 with the Sheehy reform.
He's also very pro the Euro. How's that going Ken?

  8. Another analysis suggests that the slight drop in crime comes from the decision to count all acts of disorder in any given place as one event, one crime.
Thus they would only have to catch one retarded scrote to claim a "sanctioned detection" of a mass mayhem arson orgy.

  9. It would be interesting to see whether there were any changes noted with regard to Shoplifting, Theft of, or from Cars, Criminal Damage etc .. in the same area, during the same timescale ..

  10. "So, locking up the scum and getting more police on the streets is the answer?"

Well, it may be the complete solution for dreamers. Let us hope that the practical decision makers see it as part of the answer.

  11. Don't you ever sleep MTG? What's the answer then?.In my opinion a scumbag in jail is not burgling my house or damaging my car (or yours) or is Huddersfield such a crime-free paradise that you can see things from the criminals point of view every time?

  12. "Why do we keep repeating the same mistakes..."

Either because we are truly incapable of learning, or because there's just too damn many of these progressives in positions of power...

"...but we need to stop lowering the standards and requirements to enable the police to hire people just because they are of a specific ethnicity. "

Spot on! Affirmative action schemes must be the most poisonous - and ruinous - ever dreamed up.

"As for the call to recruit more ethnic Police officers, I fail to see how the Police could do any more to achieve this .. the real answer lies within the ethnic communities themselves..."

    Well, indeed!

"Um...wouldn't this logically mean that they then become less trusted by those pesky white folks who haven't managed to flee the enrichment?"

Yes. But I suspect the public's trust in the police is something the Home Office long since reasoned they could stop bothering about...
