An 18-year-old woman was arrested today on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and wasting police time.
The teenager, from the Belle Vue area of Carlisle, alleged she had been raped at the city's Town Dyke Orchard car park on October 1.
She has been bailed to attend Carlisle police station at a later date.
Blimey, I was beginning to think the well had dried up! Apart from a reference in a Slough Neighbourhood Watch email, sent to me by 'John', a reader, last month (and for which I couldn't find any trace on the news sources, despite her being cautioned) there had been nothing.
And he added: "Following the arrest of a man on suspicion of assaulting a woman in Greystone Road in the early hours of Sunday, September 25, we are no longer looking of anyone in connection with this incident. He has been released on police bail.
ReplyDeleteWhy is he on police bail, if there was no crime? Shouldn't he have been given an apology and that be the end of it?
I wondered about that too. Perhaps he's still a suspect for the other two assaults that they DO believe happened?
