Whew! Justice Was Almost Done For A Minute There!

That was a close thing:
A lout said to have smashed his way into a house with a baseball bat over a £4 debt almost paid the price with his liberty.
’Almost’..!?
Philip Wilkinson, 46, of Walnut Street, Bacup, had turned up at the property on Manchester Road, Hapton, in the early hours, intent on getting back the money he claimed he was owed by the householder and threatening to kill him.

But, a court had earlier been told, the householder was not in and another man, Jordan Buckley, was subjected to his threatening behaviour and was put in fear of violence.
Well, maybe it was a first offe…

Oh:
The defendant was subject to a crown court suspended prison term for wounding at the time and the incident meant he was staring jail in the face.
Clearly, a suspended sentence having worked so well the last time, why not give him another?
He had earlier appeared before Burnley magistrates, who had committed him to the town’s crown court for sentence.

Wilkinson, then of Ruskin Grove, Hapton, was spared immediate custody when a judge gave him a chance and imposed another suspended term.
/facepalm

  1. Until he breaks into a judges or MP's house, then he will continue to stare jail in the face but not quite actually go there.

  3. "The defendant had admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and damage on August 1. "

Hold on...he forced entry while armed and made credible death threats...right? So why was he only charged with 'wearing a loud shirt with colours that clash' ?

This isn't the judge's fault but the CPS.

  4. And when he re-offends (as he inevitably will) both the Judge & the CPS ought to be alongside him in the dock .. for aiding & abetting ..

  5. It should have gone to a higher court, to Judge Beverly Lunt.

    There's too many of them!

    I think it's both.
