You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!

The main doors have been taken down at toilet blocks at Tideway School in Southdown Road, Newhaven, in preparation for the start of the new term.
Wha..?
Headteacher Rob Corbett said the decision was made after students were asked in a general survey whether there were any places in the school that they did not feel safe.
And this will help with that? Really?
“We talked to a couple of focus groups, particularly of younger students where the responses were coming from. They said that groups of older girls who gathered in the toilets seemed intimidating.

“Also, anecdotally, if students want to truant from a lesson they often go to the toilets.”
Ah. I see.

It’s easier to remove the doors than actually do something about the truants and bullies, isn’t it?

  1. Is it important? That's what I was asked by my primary school teacher when I raised my hand and interrupted her flow.

You should ask yourself that question. You obviously toil day and night to come up with these bits of trivia. Frankly, it's irrelevant and boring and you probably need to get a life.

Do you know that I see you on every other blog commenting? Why? Maybe you have a massive ego and you imagine that you have all the answers. Certainly when I read the list of blogs that you read every day I am rather surprised. It does not leave time for much else.

My theory is that you are not an individual. If you are, you can't have a life. And that is sad.

And please don't start about how you could read before you went to school because that is tragic.Loads of us could do that.

  2. So....let me see if I've grasped the subtext of your comment.

You see me commenting at other blogs (meaning you read them yourself) yet I'm the one who has 'no life'? Didn't really think that one through, did you? But since you don't enjoy reading it, allow me to refund your admittance fee...

    Oh. Wait...

And I can assure you, I'm as individual as they come! ;)

  3. I just see you everywhere. Ubiquitous but dull. I can't be bothered to overthink things. I have nothing to prove.

You, my dear, can't take criticism. That much is obvious. Equally apparent,is that you must not have much of a professional position because you spend all your time blogging about things of no consequence.

Clearly why you replied to my comment within minutes, to assure me of that fact... ;)

Here's a strange thought or two, anonymous.

If you don't like Julia's blog you can either not read it, or on any other blogs ignore what she writes or third, take the radical option and start your own blog!

The latter would, as you can imagine, attract some weirdo types but hey, you might have an idea what that feels like.

PS As for having a life, it is a curious statement when you think about it. What, after all is 'having a life'? Doing something you enjoy, whatever that is, or conforming to someone else's idea of behaviour and outlook or for that matter what a life is?

Some would say that life is about variety, whether you embrace it or not. Others, the ones with narrow and regulated minds, would regard such an outlook as in danger of breaching the rules of the hive.

Thank goodness we have freedom of choice, hey?

  6. @ Anon "You, my dear, can't take criticism."

Actually one of the reasons I read here is because Joolz takes criticism extremely well-better than a lot of the other 'slightly to the Right of Mrs T' bloggers.

Don't think I've ever seen her censor any post, no matter how vile the attack. So the chances are she doesn't have an ego problem...although judging by the number of 'heavy hitters' of the blogosphere who read and post here she would be entitled to have one.

  7. PS Anon, perhaps you could post a link to your own blog?...I for one would be interested to read it...

  9. @ Anon ..

Given your dislikes regarding this blog & your complaints about its hostess ..

May I suggest that you exercise your democratic right & do your online reading elsewhere ?

When I first became interested in reading blogs, I looked at a great many ..

Some, I quickly realised were not for me, so I binned them ..

Does he have a problem with toilets?

Probably traceable back to potty training (or lack of it) since he does tend to talk some shite ..

  12. Thanks, Captain Haddock. That makes sense.

Julia, if my frequent criticisms ever descend to "sad", and "get a life", you'll know I've got nothing to say.

Rock on, girl. You're my favourite person to disagree with! x

  13. Is Anonymous the same Anonymous that spouts crap on all the other blogs? I think we should be told.

  14. No probs Zaphod ..

There will always be things written by Bloggers, or comments made by their readers, with which we might personally disagree ..

But surely, that's the beauty of the Blogosphere .. its a big enough place for anyone to air their views & engage in discussion or debate ..

I just fail to understand anyone repeatedly returning to a Blog, if they fundamentally dislike or disagree with its tenor ..

I have a sneaking suspicion as to the identity of "Anonymous" , BK ..

I believe he also posts here under another identity ..

    And if I'm right, he's something of a "one-trick-pony" ..

Good point! There does seem to be a strange upwelling in the desire for conformity lately.

"Don't think I've ever seen her censor any post, no matter how vile the attack."

I think I had to once, and I zap obvious advertising spam if I see it. But no, I do tend not to zap these sort of comments.

What better way to show who is in the right, after all?

"At last! I've always wanted to do this line and I'm not going to lose my chance now."

    LOL!

  19. Julia... see what happens when the toilet doors are removed?

It entices the anonymous blogwarts[1] to crawl out of depth through the bowl and bleat!

[1] You can read this carefully chosen insult either way, as a wart on a blog or a joke about the German term 'Blockwart' which was the nice man who grassed you up to the Nazis (and later to the SED) for sayings unpopular things.

  21. Give the original Anonymous fair dues, people: after typing something that turgid and pent up if it was only the door that came off the toilet stall it would be a fucking miracle. I picture the final reel of Ghostbusters.
