Surely This Is Sex Discrimination?

A notorious prostitute who was the first to be given an ASBO in Blackburn has had the order extended.

Natasha Coker, 25, has already been jailed after numerous breaches of the conditions - originally imposed for soliciting in January 2010.

At Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Coker, of no fixed address, had the ASBO extended for a further two years.
So, ASBO didn’t work, jailing for breach of the ASBO didn’t work. Maybe this time, nothing will work.

So, let’s try it!
Sgt Kevin Jones from the Blackburn North West Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We have tried to work with Coker but her refusal to engage with the support we have offered leaves us with no other option than to extend the length of the Order.

“If she continues this behaviour she will risk a custodial sentence and I hope she uses this as an opportunity to rehabilitate herself and get her life back on track.”
She’s already had custodial sentences. Weren’t you listening?
Lancashire Police launched an initiative in 2009 where educational courses were offered to both street sex workers and kerb crawlers on first arrest in Blackburn.

The course costs £75 for men and is free for women. It aims to raise awareness of the law around prostitution, the dangers, health risks and the impact of their behaviour on the community.
Errr, hang on. Why the discrepancy?

It's presumably seen as a 'punishment' for men, while a 'valuable service' for streetwalkers, I take it?

Mince generous helpings of human misery with blind bureaucracy. Humiliate under a low light and in full public glare. Season with righteous police for additional tartiness and piquancy.

This just in: The Righteous are reeling from the shock news that where sex is concerned, large numbers of people don't follow their good advice and insist on continuing to have fun.

Next up: A must-see discussion between a morally outraged nay-sayer and a do-gooder about what's best for people.

  3. In a way I say GOOD FOR HER, fancy REFUSING TO ENGAGE! Those courses dealing with 'issues around....' sound good, keeping the outreach workers and trainers in paid employment! What a load of nonsense! Either set some boundaries and bang her up or leave her alone!

  4. But you are surely aware that for bleeding years the feminists have been saying taht all women in the sex trade are exploited by men. They are not criminals....they are victims.

Hence a man looking to pay for sex is a criminal whilst a woman offering sex for money is a victim. Victims shouldn't have to pay...simples

And men going abroad for sex are disgusting perverts, whilst women going abroad for sex are empowering goddesses....simples.

Do try and catch up....don't let political correctness die....we need your victimhood.

  5. We've had this in Cambridge too - the police ASBOing a pathetic loser walking the streets to pay for her booze and drugs because it's too much trouble to actually catch her breaking the law. It's not exactly what we were told ASBOs were going to be for, is it?

Our young lady is also "refusing to engage".

  6. In my day we moved prossies on or nicked 'em if they kicked off. What we didn't do is hold their hands, make them a cuppa and waste serious collar feeling time offering touchy-feely "advice" in the remote hope they'll give up drugs and tomming. We have social workers and psychologists for crap like that - allegedly. Expecting police officers to do it is a serious waste of resources for little or no return.

Spot on there Julia- this is the same mindset at work that motivated the (now unfunded) Poppy Project, which assumed all foreign 'sex workers' plying their trade here were 'victims of trafficking'.

No idea what he means on this one!

  9. Are you Melvin's official stalker, Jaded? He seems to fascinate you more than Julia's topics and your pathetic Trolling contributes nothing to discussions.

For reasons best known to yourself, the obsession extends to Googling all his quotes. A hobby to keep you occupied and bewildered may prove to be a highly unproductive use of police time.

Yup, I can't help feeling it's more of a job-creation scheme than a serious attempt to resolve the issue too...

" It's not exactly what we were told ASBOs were going to be for, is it?"

'Mission creep' is prevalent in everything.

"Expecting police officers to do it is a serious waste of resources for little or no return."

I doubt it's run by actual police officers - more likely a cosy arrangement with a private firm.

I take exception to the term "pathetic trolling".Trolling in my opinion is swearing, abuse, not listening to reason etc.I don't think being slightly critical in a funny way fits that bill.
Trolling is a term used to often against people that some disagree with.
