Sunday Funnies

Yes, it'll happen. And there won't be a thing you can do about it!

  1. Quite a fascinating article. Most of what it says I had actually worked out for myself though. At 53 I have realised that your age creeps up on you so stealthily that you don't actually realise that it's happening, I think that this is probably a good thing. I am actually more comfortable with the fifty-something me than I was with the younger me. I tend to look back and wonder why I wasted so much time being an immature tosser, thanks to this article I now know why.

I think that the article ommitted to mention our attitude to driving. I have always taken an interest in maintaining my driving skills. I always read the Highway Code whenever an updated version is published and have signed up for advanced driving classes from time to time. The fault that tends to afflict older drivers is the one that is technically referred to as "Failure to maintain adequate progress". This manifests itself by driving at 45 in 60 zones and, when approaching a completely empty roundabout slowing down or even stopping rather than zipping through it because it is empty.

I do still enjoy listening to new music but the fact that this part of the article hits the nail on the head is pretty much proven by my love of Prog Rock, I will never tire of listening to Tarkus.

  2. I think the thing with the driving is that, being older, we're no longer in such a tearing hurry to reach the end of our journey.. ;)
