Clearly, It'll Be An Open Marriage?

Unemployed Lee Moss, 40, was already serving a 12-month suspended sentence for running a drug farm when he punched two young men in a takeaway following a night out.
Although Moss should have been sent to prison for breaching the terms of his sentence, a judge said jailing him would ‘ruin his life’ and freed him.
And....how would it do that?
Judge Andrew Woolman, sitting at Preston Crown Court, handed Moss a six-week home curfew, ending in time for his big day and honeymoon to Egypt next month.
The judge said: ‘It would destroy your life in the short term if I was to imprison you immediately – you would not be able to attend your wedding.’
Well, yes. Those are called 'consequences'. You should really have to expect them when you launch an unprovoked assault on strangers...

Still, if he's otherwise compliant with the court's ...

Oh:
Moss, who the court heard had also failed to complete the community service element of his sentence, is due to marry his long-standing girlfriend, Michelle Bell, 39, on June 24.
What a lucky woman, eh?
Last night Moss, who has two sons aged nine and four, said the judge had ‘saved his life’ by allowing him to walk free.
He added: ‘We both feared the worst and Michelle has been a nervous wreck. I was so sure I wouldn’t be going on the honeymoon I told her to look at taking a friend.
Errr....

  1. There are no consequences in this joke of a justice system of ours.
The courts don't seem to consider how anyone can go out and get drunk, buy cocaine and pay for a honeymoon in Egypt, all on the dole?
Where is the responsibility of someone getting married while unemployed?
He is either working or, more likely, dealing drugs etc.
At his next court appearance the mitigation will be that he had to supply drugs to pay off his honeymoon debt. The 'lady' he is marrying will be pregnant and so it will be another suspended sentence for this dedicated family man.

  2. A man with a drugs record known to have attacked two strangers while undcer the influence of alcohol and cocaine is off for a holiday in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood are gaining increasing support and the police are not exactly known for their lenience.

    What could possibly go wrong...?

  3. Brontosaurus, according to the article, his girlfriend has taken out a £10,000 loan to pay for the wedding and honeymoon.

No wonder she's 'a nervous wreck'.

  5. Could it be a deliberate move: let him go to Egypt in the hope that he'll act in character. Let the Egyptian authorities deal with him.

Well, quite! Though it seems the lucky lady is on the hook for the last one...

    *evil grin*

Ah, it seems it's like the 'right to family life' that never means the family should go with the husband to whatever Third World hellhole he came from.
