I Think The Schoolday Will Need To Be 27 Hours Long...

...how the hell else can they fit in every last thing every idiot with a hobby horse wants to include?
Youngsters should be taught about responsible dog ownership, according to a Bolton MP.
Julie Hilling is calling on schools to introduce lessons on dangerous dogs after noticing a rise in the number of incidents reported to her.
What are they going to have to drop to fit it in? Reading? Writing? Arithmetic? Other people's hobby-horses?
Ms Hilling, the MP for Bolton West, has teamed up with Blue Cross, a leading animal welfare charity, which has developed an educational workshop for young people.
The lessons aim to stimulate debates about responsible dog ownership, anti-social behaviour and the law.
Ms Hilling has sent letters to all local primary and secondary schools urging them to provide the free workshops.
It might be 'free' in the sense no money changes hands, but it's not time-free, is it?

  1. What a petist! What about cats, rabbits and budgies etc

Still a Dog Obedience GCSE sounds better than some of the courses I've heard about.

I wonder how this will go down in the Muslim Community?

  2. Is it any wonder our children don't know the basics these days?

Keep politicians out of schools but that won't happen until all schools are privatised.

  3. Why schools ? Why primary school children, in particular ? How many lone 5 year olds strutting round the streets flanked by a snarling pitbull does anyone see on a daily basis ?

These workshops would be better as mandatory in all Young Offenders units and part of Community Sentencing.

Unless the point of them is to dodge the people actually causing the problem...say it ain't so...

  4. Y'know it also occurs to me that this is yet another "initiative" designed to shift responsibility for dealing with anything criminal from the authorities to children.

Yes kids, vicious dog owners have taken over the streets and we won't be doing anything about it BUT we will teach you how to hide better.

Give...me...strength...it'a almost enough to turn ME into a dangerous animal...grrrrr.

Well, quite! We've already banned pork from dinner menus to appease them.

I must get a GIANT bag of popcorn if this idea takes off... ;)

God knows where they find the time!

Indeed! What we need is a safe haven scheme, where kiddies can flee when a pooch goes nuts :)
