Standards, Folks, Standards!

*weeps*

It's 'effect'. 'Effect'!!!!

  1. Sorry, Julia: it's "affect". Really.

"Effect" is the noun, and "affect" is the verb. You affect something, and cause an effect. There is a verb "effect", meaning to bring something about (to effect a change), but that's not what is meant here.

    Hundred lines, my desk, tomorrow.

  2. No you are right Julia. The headline uses "affect" as a noun. Only later is it used as a verb.
