Stay Classy, New Addington!

A community who rallied together to help search for missing girl Tia Sharp, joined in mourning the 12-year-old with a mass Chinese lantern release.
Hundreds of well-wishers from New Addington and the surrounding area met on Friday night at The Lindens, where the Mitcham girl’s body was found last week, to light the lanterns and release them into the night’s sky.
Well, really, what else would one expect from the place, other than – in an effort to ‘honour the memory’ of a child almost certainly killed by one of her own relatives who then led the media and the police around by the nose – the mass release of tiny incendiary devices guaranteed to create UFO panic, start fires on innocent people’s property and kill livestock and wildlife?

After all, as usual, they won’t be the ones to have to clean up their own messes, will they?

  1. Julia,
the mad, racist black woman on the tube story is in the Daily Mail.

Don't think they will send her to poky though, although she would obviously feel very comfortable there amongst so many of her own!

  2. What happened to the British stiff upper lip and natural reserve when it came to grieving?
Every death is now a chav-fest,and don't get me started on the "flowers at the scene of road accidents".

  3. Jaded, what worries me about the growth of this phenomenon is the potential for collective hostility towards anyone failing to demonstrate sufficient 'respect', particularly in a 'community' venture like this.

Perhaps all those Chinese Lanterns will blow back to Addington and clear the place up for us

  5. At least Tia was an innocent. What sickens me is when a "fallen solja" is shot and the scum pay tribute.

  6. Jaded your comment at 13:15 is correct it sickens me as well, and have you noticed that gang shooting victims are nearly always described by family members as 'a lovable rogue'? Personally I would have used the term 'worthless gangster scroat'.

  7. I find flowers at the scene of traffic accidents are very handy out here in the wetlands. It shows you exactly where the danger points are as the subtle bends on the roads can be misleading.

There's nothing like a nice fresh shrine for making the point. Probably not so useful in Hackney.

We'll see. They might have to, as so many have noticed the discrepancy ...

"What happened to the British stiff upper lip and natural reserve when it came to grieving?"

    Amen!

Never set up or contributed to a site like this for any of my friends or relatives, never will.

If you must so something digital, why not user something like 'JustGiving' and make it some use?

Ah, you must have had last night's 'Accused' in mind? ;)

    Or been a glazier, post-riot...

  11. Ah New Addington! Where the police are as venal as the chavs. "Joe Poulton" drink driver in The Met kills a pedestrian and is not punished. UK justice, finest one can buy.
