OK, Everyone, Back To Normal….

A teenager involved in last years Croydon riots has avoided jail.
The 17-year-old who cannot be named, was arrested by police on August 8, exactly a year after the disorder in Croydon.
In interview, the boy admitted to committing two burglaries, one at Argos in Church Street and the other at a Jewellers in Surrey Street.
He also admitted participating in violent disorder in London Road and causing criminal damage at the Iceland store in Surrey Street by kicking and breaking the window.
And now the spotlight isn’t on magistrates, they go straight back to their old ways:
He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for 24 months and was ordered to be on an electronic tag and curfew for four months.
He must also carry out 150 hours of unpaid community work and is required to attend probation appointments for 24 months.
The police must wonder why they bother…

  2. Detective Inspector Heather Rook said: "I think he was surprised police had caught up with him, but we are still determined to identify every person we possibly can that was involved in the events of August 2011 in Croydon."

  3. Julia,
I am astounded, astonished and completely gobsmacked. Here we have a blog which appears to show some support for the Police! Perhaps it's the time of month (if you are still below that age of change) or you have overdosed on milk chocolate. Whatever the reason, please keep it up, if only to prove me wrong again about your core values!

I'm astounded that you've finally noticed that this isn't a anti-police blog, Penseivat.

Where they do a good job and are let down by others, I sympathise and support. Where they do a lousy job, I criticise.

That's the way it's always been here, whatever you might have read elsewhere...
