The Violence And Incoherence Of The Entitlement Generation…

Mike Weatherley, who represents Hove, has spoken of his horror after he was “besieged” by up to 100 protestors.
One of his colleagues, an intern, was struck by a rock and another had a punch swung at him as angry scenes broke out yesterday afternoon.
Mr Weatherley was chased from the Asa Briggs Lecture Theatre, across the Falmer campus and sought refuge in a locked building.
Police were called and, surrounded by six officers, Mr Weatherley was escorted out into a waiting riot van.
Yes. You read that right. No arrests.

Rather than drive the violent protesters back, the police convince the people who have a legitimate right to be there that they should remove themselves for their own safety the police’s convenience

They should be ashamed of themselves. As should the ‘Argus’, for giving these protesters a forum.
The people who claimed to have attacked him spoke exclusively to The Argus.
They said: “This is a war. Not a war that we chose, but a war that we are confronted with daily.
The time for debate is over, closing with the passing of “Weatherley's Law”.
“The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich and poor alike to sleep in empty properties, not to suffer the streets, and to steal warmth.”
It’s the same old tired rhetoric that we've heard so many times before.
A university spokeswoman said: “We are appalled to hear that Mike Weatherley was prevented from speaking on campus by a group of protesters.
"We believe that the violent disruption was led by activist protesters from outside of the university, not by our students.”
They may well have led it, but quite a few of ‘your students’ willingly followed, eh?

As the comments at the Argus’s other article show, the public seem to have had enough of these whining, over-privileged adult children:
Crystal Ball says...
So "Peaceful protests" now escalates to assault with weapons? If students, were they supposed to be at a lecture or "off sick"? Same goes for those that might have jobs but chose not to be there for this purpose. Lots of faces on camera to trace perpetrators.
Well, indeed. If only anyone had the will to do so…

Most of these commenters don’t seem to have the slightest idea about…well, anything, really:
dhamallamafarmer says...
But Wetherley is suppose do t be left wing since he's a member of the Labour Party.
/facepalm

There are some sensible people though:
Mark22 says...
As a student of the Uni i'd like to say that these people don't represent the vast majority of Sussex Students who just want to get on with their studies. This video certainly doesn't show the whole story, and yet only the end of what was a violent and disgusting protest. Some of the people protesting were not even Sussex Students. It is so sad to see that a University, especially one so well regarded as Sussex can no longer be the home for a reasoned and peaceful debate, which was Mike Weatherleys intention in coming to the campus.
That draws a lot of fire from the usual suspects. But there are signs their rhetoric is wearing thin:

Yeah the strange thing seems to be that the squatters around Brighton seem to be so hard up they manage to throw parties every night while simultaneously trashing the place they're in. Come one, for god sake this 'most vulnerable members of society' line is getting very tiresome now.
Isn't it just?

  1. Squatters are thieving vermin, stealing the use of someone's property. I for one think criminalising squatting should have happened decades ago.

  2. Squatters and pikeys encroaching on private land and premises should be shot like the shit stained fuckpigs they are.

When I read such stories about the pleece I am reminded of Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse's sketch about the two gay Amsshterdam cops sitting in a police car who shay dey are going to vishit der proshtitutes and maybe do shome shopping for dem!

    Farcical!

  3. The first thing that people should understand is that the main aim of the Police is "the protection of life". That takes precedence over everything - over arrests, trying to identify offenders, or anything else. It appears that there was a danger of someone being injured, or worse, due to the actions of a group of sub-human cretins following a (usually left-wing) ideological philosophy. Add to that the forced reduction of the number of Police officers by successive Governments and you end up with three men and a dog Policing something which would normally have half a dozen officers (and a dog). To maintain the first principle of Policing, the attacked person and his entourage were removed. In a perfect world, there would be enough officers left to identify and arrest those responsible for this atrocious behaviour. Unfortunately, the 'people' have voted for successive Governments which have reduced and emasculated the Police Force - sorry, Service - so all they can do is try and maintain a modicum of order (don't forget that to arrest one person takes two Police officers off the street). If you start with two Police officers and a couple of CSOs, you have no chance at all. In the short term, the Police did what they were required to do, which was to remove someone from danger. In the long term, it should be left to those who have control over the vermin, i.e. the university, to either send them down or, as they have no concept of the right of peaceful demonstration, to deny them the right of any form of demonstration. Unfortunately, as the authorities for further education are in the hands of ultra-socialists, that will definitely not happen. Perhaps a couple of Youtube videos advocating that particular university could end up with some benefit?

Of course if the English Defence League or the British National Party were to behave like this, naturally the considerations you have outlined would be utmost?

    Don't fucking lie to me.

  5. " I for one think criminalising squatting should have happened decades ago."

Me too. And the recent law should have covered commercial properties too. I wonder why it didn't?

    "Farcical!"

    It is indeed.

"Add to that the forced reduction of the number of Police officers by successive Governments..."

Yes, I keep hearing that. And yet I keep seeing large numbers of police descending on relatively minor incidents.

And if the police front line is being cut, look not to the government - look to your own hierarchy first!

"Of course if the English Defence League or the British National Party were to behave like this, naturally the considerations you have outlined would be utmost?"

    Spot on!

  7. "Yeah the strange thing seems to be that the squatters around Brighton seem to be so hard up they manage to throw parties every night while simultaneously trashing the place they're in."

That's the funny thing, isn't it. In actual fact, every single squatter who has ever squatted in Brighton has indeed thrown a party every night, and completely trashed the place they were in.

They like to act hard done by, but nobody has a 'right' to accommodation. And okay, the cost of housing has trebled within a generation, turning the richer members of society into true overlords, but boo hoo, that doesn't give anybody the right to break into someone else's house.

What I'd ask them is why can't they get on their bikes and go find a proper job, earning 6 times what they're currently paid, and then get themselves a mortgage?

Like @ranter says, they should be shot. I wouldn't go so far as to call them 'shit stained fuckpigs', as I know a few, and they are clean, productive member of society. But they can be an inconvenience, and the best way to deal with inconveniences is definitely to shoot them.

Why not? People like us have worked hard to stay at the top of the ladder and subjugate the masses. Shoot them, I say. In fact, shoot anybody who is poor. Any one of them could turn into a squatter. Ignore this warning at your peril!
