A month ago, alarmed by moves to water down a key protection arising from Sir William Macpherson's inquiry into the death of her son, the campaigner wrote to the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, Nick Clegg, and the other major party leaders. She told the Guardian the letter had been ignored. An earlier communication seeking to establish relations with the coalition at the outset also went without reply.Hurrah! Who the hell are you, and why should you think you have the ear of ministers? Hell, as DumbJon points out, even the business advisors don't get that...
"With the new government in, the whole thing around race has changed completely," said Lawrence, who will unveil a series of events on Wednesday to mark the 20th anniversary next year of Stephen's murder.
"Race is definitely not on the government's agenda. They have done away with the stop-and-search recording. Even before they came in, they talked about changing things, particularly on stop and search; that they would do away with the forms and they have done that. "I don't really understand it because we all want a society in which we can live safely and live freely and to have police officers doing what they need to do on the street. But when it comes to race, they feel as if they are doing us a favour rather than doing what is right."If you really want a society in which you can 'live safely and live freely', Doreen, why don't you turn your attention to your own so-called 'community'?
Because it seems to me that the biggest killer of young black youth is....other young black youth.
Oh, and Andy Warhol says 'You've had more than 15 minutes, love!'. I guess the 'Guardian' will always be around to take your call, though...
Race is an issue only to racists. The rest of us just get on with life and people.
ReplyDeleteAs the famous 'anti racist' DoLo once explained, even though most young black men are killed by other young black men, that just proves that the real issue is who's supplying the guns to them in the first place.
ReplyDeleteApparently there's no way black drug dealers would no anything about smuggling contraband like firearms into the country. Or to put it another way, when one black guy shoots another black guy, it's still whitey's fault anyway. Cherchez Le Honkey.
I dislike injustice but the Lawrence's, like the Dale Farm Pikeys have had far more than their fair day in court. I still cannot forgive the Lawrence's for moaning and complaining until the longstanding rules of double jeopardy that protected those found not guilty from being picked up by the state and tried again for the same crime, possibly until the state gets the result it wants.
ReplyDeleteThe Lawrence's got their own way with the law change, but the problem that this has caused is it will be future generations as yet unborn of British Citizens who will suffer because who knows what sort of shitty government in the future may want to try some one twice for the same offence.
I agree with Julia, the Lawrences are overlooking the fact that the biggest non illness killer of young black men in our cities is other young black men. Doreen Lawrence can see the speck in the eyes of others but ignores the bloody great rafter in her own. I used to respect Doreen Lawrence, now however she is looking like just another tax guzzling victimhood peddling race baiter.
Had her legal team not prosecuted the main suspects too early without enough evidence then we wouldn't have had to bend over backwards and change the law on double-jeopardy.
ReplyDeleteIf Mrs Lawrence does not feel safe in this country, [fill in the obvious blanks].
ReplyDelete"Race is an issue only to racists."
ReplyDeleteSpot on!
"Or to put it another way, when one black guy shoots another black guy, it's still whitey's fault anyway. Cherchez Le Honkey."
And this is why there'll never be the 'progress' these campaigners claim to want. They aren't part of the solution. They are part of the problem.
"I used to respect Doreen Lawrence, now however she is looking like just another tax guzzling victimhood peddling race baiter. "
The perils of lionising and feteing a 'victim of crime'.
"Had her legal team not prosecuted the main suspects too early without enough evidence then we wouldn't have had to bend over backwards and change the law on double-jeopardy."
It should never have been changed.
