Actually, for a movie that is just slightly older than myself, its aged rather well (as have I). Acting, plot, story all excellent, special FXs not so.

Typical, isn't it? you can't even lay claim to your generation's culture these days without some miserable upstart clamouring on about how they are allowed to join you in the privilege, despite not even having been born back then.
A fan of Alistair MacLean as it happens. The book was better than the film, which was the case with all of his books that were subsequently butchered by Hollywood - don't even talk to me about Ice Station Zebra.
