The Rule Of Law – Is It Finally Broken Beyond Repair?

Mr Afzal, who has specialised in prosecuting child grooming cases, said those due to be arrested were not directly linked to Savile but were among the “others” identified by police as having committed similar alleged offences.
“This is a growing industry,” said Mr Afzal. “There are more arrests scheduled over the next few weeks. Some are very high-profile figures.”
He added: … There are people you will be interested in.”
Should a chief crown prosecutor really be acting as a ‘warm up man’, teasing and titillating the press in this fashion, like a carnival barker in the turn-of-the-century US midwest urging the rubes to put a nickel down to see the ladies from Gay Paree in the altogether?

He isn't the only one, either:
Detective Chief Superintendent Keith Niven, the head of Scotland Yard’s child abuse command, told the Policy Exchange meeting, however, that more offenders would now be brought to justice and said cases being reported to the Met had “rocketed up the scale” since the Savile scandal broke.
He said this was “very good” and added: “There will be more charges of individuals who would not have been charged previously.”
What does that mean? That every kook and lunatic that ever made allegations (that no longer, it seems, need to be even half-way credible) will now get the full 'victim' treatment?

Well, why not?
Savile died aged 84 in 2011, but the extent of his offending only became public after an ITV documentary last year. Subsequent reports prompted dozens of victims to come forward.
No longer ‘alleged offending’, no longer ‘alleged victims’. The State has decreed it so. Without a trial.

What a tawdry circus has been made of it all.

  1. Bunny,

I doubt that the rule of law is damaged beyond repair it just needs wrested from the absolute cretins who administer it at the moment. What we have are media savvy idiots, who are statist, controlling and who believe the rubbish spewed by the last government.

  3. I feel quite uncomfortable the way the police and media are declaring guilt before a trial. What will happen if some of these celebrities get found not guilty?(As they will due to the age of allegations).

And wrestling control from them doesn't seem to be on Cameron's radar...

"What will happen if some of these celebrities get found not guilty?"

What do you mean, 'if'? I think it's a foregone conclusion.

The answer, of course, will be that 'the system' protected them!

"Do you have an "Irony of the week" spot?"

I'm thinking of putting one in!
