Will We See The Left Up In Arms About This Case Of ‘Defrauding The Revenue’?

Because I suspect we won’t:
… the judge let Bircham, who wept throughout the hearing and has turned to teaching after her business flopped, walk free.
He imposed an 18-month suspended jail term and ordered her to complete 150 hours unpaid work. She will be subject to a six-month curfew.
Robert Tolhurst, defending, said the business, Scoop SkinCare Ltd, had been set up legitimately but turned “sour”.
The defendant’s 13-year-old son would be forced to uproot his life from London to Wales if she was jailed, he added.
Oh, well, clearly that would be cruel and unusual punishment!

...and was presumably welcomed with open arms because her business background would make her a good role model.

Yet more proof, if it were needed, that there's something very wrong with education in this country.

Yep, everybody's job of last resort. Still, probably better to arrive at it after series of humiliating failures in other arenas of life, rather than just plop into it after the O-level/A-level/B.Ed conveyor belt like most 'teechaz' do these days.

  4. Two 'Get out of jail free' cards for the price of one.

Who would want Monica Bircham, a single mother and a convicted criminal thief, to teach anything? Where's the father, can't he look after the child? Or is he a bastard?

And remember, she wasn't evading tax, which is holding onto your own money. She was claiming it - did she pay it back?

    Whip, meet hand.

    /facepalm

As Bobo points out, education will never improve if so many failures at everything else see it as a job of last resort.

    Oh, undoubtedly!

What cowards.... you really should not believe every bigoted, biased story you read. How many of you can say you have created your own business...and comments regarding a minor is aberrant to to the protection this child deserves.

  7. You mean, we shouldn't believe the courts, the law process of this land? Are you suggesting that you were unfairly convicted?

And concern for your child now is a little late. Far better to not put him in the position of having a potential jailbird for a mother...
