The police were called to a playground brawl at a Penryn primary school last week. No, no, not to break up a fight between the children. That would be ridiculous, right?
Between the parents...
Officers had to use pepper spray to break-up the fight, at Penryn Infant School on Thursday afternoon, because a man was allegedly hitting a pupil's mother. The 'Mail' has more:
Headteacher Gillian Wright said she was ‘disgusted’ by the incident. She said: ‘Children who are very young have witnessed something they never should have. That behaviour should never have happened.
‘Safety and happiness are the most important things for children at the school.’Hmmmm. Not learning things?

Speaking of "learning things"...so only slightly O/T...I bought a steam-mop today and there are no less than 26 "Important Safeguards"in the instruction manual.
ReplyDelete(As instructed) I read them very carefully. I got stuck at No.25:
"This appliance is not intended for use by person (including children) with reduced, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety."
Unfortunately, there is no criteria listed for deciding what constitutes "person (including children) with reduced, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge".
Nor am I entirely sure any more of quite who is ultimately responsible for my safety.
To truly err on the side of caution it's probably best I just leave it in the box.
For the love of humanity...
ReplyDeleteIf only this short sighted school had engaged a Poet in Residence; all this anger could have been diffused with a soothing composition.
Who are Interserve (school sign)? Their logo is all over my local hospital.
ReplyDeleteWho are Interserve
ReplyDeleteThat's the PFI people.
Speaking of signs... I almost crashed on Friday when seeing this sign.
Both of these examples highlight perfectly where all the money has gone/going. Forget the smokescreens of Google, Starbucks and the banker's bonuses. Its a simple choice of school books or expensive maintenance contracts? Heart operations or NHS propaganda? We can't afford both.
"...and there are no less than 26 "Important Safeguards"in the instruction manual. "
ReplyDeleteThe fear of being sued in dumbed-down Britain? :/
"If only this short sighted school had engaged a Poet in Residence..."
*chuckles*
