A disabled busker on a life-changing journey has hit out after being the victim of a tirade of abuse caught on camera.
The two-minute long clip shows another musician ordering 26-year-old singer Alexandria, who was busking in Bath, to turn the sound down, before he threatens to ram his microphone down her throat.Ah. A dispute between two street nuisances.
But one has a special card to play! One can whip out the Card of Victimhood!
Alexandria added: “I was born into the wrong body and I have a disability so I’ve been the subject of bullying and people not being nice to me wherever I go.”Oh, seems she has a whole pack of 'em!
Her mum Caroline said: “This man might not have realised the effect he had on Alex and all that she is going through but I want him to know.
“We moved from Scotland because we had a hard time. I don’t know why people can’t let her be happy.”Here's a thought, love. Maybe it's not 'people' that are the problem. Maybe....it's you?
The distraught abuse victim is determined to continue to share her passion for music by busking all over the country./facepalm
I note, with some suspicion, that (at the time of writing) none of the comments seem to share your (or my) view Julia...
ReplyDeleteNot one has commented on the nuisance and noise pollution both of them create...
Disabled and trans is a very strong hand in Entitlement Poker ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell the other busker did not know that Alexander/ Alexandria was either disabled or suffering with cerebral palsy. All he could see was a fat idiot with zero talent making an insufferable row. I sing and play an instrument badly myself and if you are going to put yourself out there you had better be prepared to take some criticism!
ReplyDeleteI auditioned for the X Factor and they said to come back after my sex change
ReplyDeleteI hope they tell it to run a fucking marathon next time.
I was born into the wrong body...
ReplyDeleteI hear Brad Pitt has been showing my photo around and complaining of the same thing. Sigh.
""I was born into the wrong body...""
ReplyDeleteI was born in the wrong era. I should have grown up with Rock 'n' Roll. Instead I got Bros and Bananarama.
Do I qualify as a victim now?
I was born into the wrong body...
ReplyDeleteQuite sick that by this he means that he feels greater distress at having been cursed with a cock (albeit probably not much of one) rather than cerebral palsy, which is potentially a great card to hold in Victimhood Poker.
In the interests of informed commenting, I've had a look at some of her performances on Youtube.
ReplyDeleteWhile the abuse and the online comments were undoubtedly unpleasant, I'm more concerned by the unrealistic encouragement to pursue a career in singing and the way she has now been publicly pigeonholed as a'disabled busker' and victim hounded from her first home - and those can be laid squarely at mother's door.
The disability clearly has minimal impact on her singing and dancing and she has an engaging stage presence - and the nerve to perform in front of a potentially hostile audience - but her inability to negotiate complex key changes suggests a lack of innate musicality and, by the age of 26, someone should have pointed this out to her (and told her that X-factor scouts are looking for a 'human interest' freak show, not genuine talent).
If Alexandria's mother really wants her to be happy, the best thing she can do is give her some tough love and independence.
Two peas in a pod as far as I am concerned.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Watching that performance is akin to visiting bedlam and laughing at the inmates. Is it really kind to expose he/she/whatever to that degree of ridicule.
ReplyDeleteThe more I see him, the more Simon Cowell reminds me of the Freddie Jones character in 'The Elephant Man'
You get a better class of busker in Bath, string quartets sometimes. They are very mindful of each other pitches, and that includes vocal ones. The only disability on display here was an obvious lack of musical ability.
ReplyDeleteThe really depressing bit is this...
Inspector Damian Morley, of Avon and Somerset Police, said a man had been arrested and cautioned in relation to this incident.
Having listened to a few seconds of that off key caterwauling I think I would have told the talentless git to shut up and bugger off too.
ReplyDelete"Not one has commented on the nuisance and noise pollution both of them create..."
ReplyDeleteThat's odd! I could have sworn there were a few when I first saw it...
"...and if you are going to put yourself out there you had better be prepared to take some criticism!"
No! Everyone is a precious snowflake, and adoration a human right!
"Do I qualify as a victim now?"
Everyone qualifies as a victim...!
"...and those can be laid squarely at mother's door."
Philip Larking was right, wasn't he?
"The more I see him, the more Simon Cowell reminds me of the Freddie Jones character in 'The Elephant Man'"
ReplyDeleteSpot on!
