In a statement, Sussex Police said the matter related to an investigation into a series of allegations and counter allegations “where all parties have in turn been considered as victims and suspects” ./facepalm
But it is, I'm afraid, a statement that highlights what a wretched, overly-politicised, afraid to make a judgement, box-ticking service our police have become.
A spokesman said five PINs had been issued, explaining a continuation of the behaviour would lead to re-opening of the investigation and consideration of arrest or prosecution.
Responding to the accusations, Assistant Chief Constable Robin Merrett, of Sussex Police, said by issuing the notices it had hoped to bring the issue to a conclusion. But…just why would the police consider there was somehow parity between an elected member of Parliament and an obvious professional green-ink letter-writer? Maybe one of his opponents could provide a clue?
Jemima Bland, prospective Liberal Democrat candidate for Worthing East and Shoreham, said Mr Loughton should have used half an hour of valuable parliamentary time to protest at the closure of two police stations in his constituency, rather than moan about his personal treatment by Sussex Police.Aha! There couldn't be a little bit of ‘getting our own back’ here from the oh-so-impartial Sussex Police, could there? Perish the thought!
But Jemima should think before she crows too loudly. It’s a long shot, admittedly, but one day she too might be in the same situation.
She’d better make sure she never supports any policy decisions the police top brass don’t like…
Mad, completely mad. Why do we pay them?
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the one where , the harasser is a Gypsy. ( tried to make being called unkempt a racial slur)
ReplyDeleteso therefore the Police have to take his side,
Gypsy trumps MP
Neither party come out of this very well.
ReplyDeleteJaded
Jaded, that's an understatement and a half. The fat useless sponging pikey fuckwit should be thrown out of every police station he enters (under his own steam that is) and every allegation should be marked NFA-LOB. Another disturbing tale showing the continual sad decline of a once great British institution. The left wing ploddleygook justification spouted by weaselly police spokesmen (AND women) and ACPO fuckwits is tedious. Official liars in the public domain. Nothing anyone can do about it.
ReplyDeleteLong ago the the politicians micro managed the Police and forced them to take action against anyone perceived to have committed any 'ism' offence.
ReplyDeleteSooner or later the chickens were going to come home and roost.
The expression 'they don't like it up 'em' comes to mind.
"Why do we pay them?"
ReplyDeleteBecause we've no choice in the matter...
"Isn't this the one where , the harasser is a Gypsy."
It's not mentioned in the article, but the comments gave the game away.
"Official liars in the public domain."
And every force has too many.
"Sooner or later the chickens were going to come home and roost."
Yes, there's a certain amount of schadenfreude to be had, isn't there?
