Chalk Another One Up For Darwin...

A story that will no doubt have Longrider or Richard wincing:
The minicab driver, of Hillfield Avenue, Colindale, had taken out the bike, which he was looking to buy from a neighbour, despite having no training or insurance.
The inquest heard how earlier that day, Mr Mohyuddin had taken his close friend Umair Tahir to inspect the bike at his neighbour’s home.
In a statement read to the court, Mr Tahir described how Mr Mohyuddin had stalled the bike “about seven times” in an attempt to get it from the garden to the front of the house before he set off.
 /facepalm
Mr Tahir said he stood chatting with the neighbour after Mr Mohyuddin set off and became worried when an ambulance rushed past them ten minutes later.
Mr Tahir isn't the brightest of sparks either, it would seem...
The accident prompted Mr Mohyuddin’s friend, Sachin Patel, to gather a road safety petition calling for yellow lines to prevent cars parking on the corner and creating a blind bend.
Oh, wait! So maybe it wasn't his fault that he died after all, despite the lack of training and the speed and the power of the unfamiliar bi...
A witness in an on-coming car said the bike went into a wobble as Mr Mohyuddin came around a bend where Hillfield Road becomes Crossway, before it shot across the road and into the wall.
Ah. OK. Never mind...

  1. All these modern road safety campaigns seem to be born off the backs of some idiot doing themselves harm.

There is a new one in our local paper today. Some councillor wants a speed limit reduced and traffic calming measures because of recent fatal accidents.

Both the accidents were the result of the drivers being pissed out of their faces, not because the road is dangerous.

  2. The expression used by some motorcycle trainers (not me, honest...much) is GNI. God never intended...

I may be making a rash assumption here, but was the man of Islamic faith? Had it been fatal would a Darwin have been rubbing salt into the wound?

It was fatal and a Darwin for someone involved in an accident, near Darwin, who quite possibly objects to Darwin's (the man not the borough) theory on religious grounds.

  6. Don't you find it annoying that stupidity is never the fault of the stupid? Or that stupid petitions leading to pointless regulations tend to be a result of it?

  7. A 600cc Suzuki racing bike no less.

I'd say there's an argument here for the police to talk to the chap that allowed him to ride off with it.

    Also...

I may be making a rash assumption here, but was the man of Islamic faith?

The name might suggest he was... but then he was a former Christ College School student too. However, he was a minicab driver and he was described in the newspaper piece as a 'popular family man, who lived with his wife, parents, brother and sister-in-law'. Mmmmmm it's a toughie.

The strongest evidence though is here

  8. One less.

Satan is now looking at him with a big smile on his face and saying; "got your faith wrong big time, didn't you?

As Lynne points out, why on earth should someone else's stupidity mean they deliver a leaflet to me?

    "God never intended..."

    Heh!

Is it against the law for me to hand you a toaster I'm planning on selling, and for you to then decide to take a bath with?
