I Don’t Think Sunglasses Are Going To Help Him…

A taxi driver who hit a woman on a pedestrian crossing as he was driving the wrong way down a one way street claimed he had been dazzled by the sun.
Yes, well, umm…
He was fined £165 with £105 costs and his licence endorsed with five penalty points.
Charges of failing to stop after an accident and failing to stop at a pelican crossing were dropped.
Wha..? Why?

  1. Maybe they were dropped because the crossing had no warning signs facing the wrong way?

  2. It is rather significant that no name or picture of said driver is given - I wonder why.

Why did he carry his white stick into court?

To be serious I have on a few occasions been in sticky motoring situations because the sun has obscured my vision so I have some sympathy here. Fortunately none ended badly but they could so easily have done.

  6. His name is Mohammed Hanif Patel, it is in the original article, for which Julia provided a link.

The article also states that at the time, the woman said she was uninjured, so there was no reason for him to remain at the scene of the incident.

    Pay attention in future.

Me too, this time of year is worst for that.

"The article also states that at the time, the woman said she was uninjured..."

I wonder what changed her mind?
