So, a breakdown, a crash, a tragedy. And oh! If only the Knights of the Road had got there sooner:
A spokesman for the RAC said they were en-route to recover the caravan when the crash occured.
He said: 'We are extremely saddened to learn that a young woman has been injured and that three dogs have lost their lives as a result of this incident.
'We had despatched a specialist recovery vehicle to attend, but unfortunately the accident occurred while the vehicle was en route to the scene.'Such a shame, but then, they can't be everywh...
Wait. What's this in the comments?
Hmmm. More to this tale than meets the eye?
Wouldn't you think the 'Mail', being a newspaper (Stop laughing at the back!) would pursue this, rather than rely on the statement from the RAC's PR department?
All very [excuse me} fishy
ReplyDeleteIt seem further questions should be asked here.
Uhm according to the comments, they had 12 dogs on board. I'm pretty sure the 'normal' RAC recovery aren't allowed to transport that many animals, caged or no. So yes the ladies would have had to wait until a suitable recovery vehicle could get there. I'm guessing that's also one of the things that professional Dog Showers (?- is that an actual collective noun?) know about-about it being in the RAC T&C. So my sympathy is somewhat with the RAC on this one EXCEPT for the fact that the first RAC man to attend should have ensured that the car was made safe, removed to a place of safety to wait (ie towed down the hard shoulder to the next safe place) or if that is now also verboten then he should have parked his van with lights on to warn oncoming drivers etc.
ReplyDeleteSurely the fourth emergency service is Her Majesty's Coast Guard anyway?

ReplyDeleteAh, if only we had... what did we call them again?
Ah, yes! Journalists!

Indeed so.

They clearly never employed PR teams fast enough...
