Accompanied By A What..?

A woman has been charged after a train struck a car on the Sandy Lane railway crossing earlier this month. Heather Bister, 43, of Austin Drive, Banbury, appeared at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday. British Transport Police confirmed she had been charged with endangering safety on the railways without intent.
Which is, I guess, the railway equivalent of a careless or dangerous driving offence.

But it’s the bail conditions that raised an eyebrow:
Bister was released on conditional bail and told not to drive, not to enter any rail infrastructure and to be accompanied by an adult when leaving her home address.
She’s 43! Unless she’s mentally ‘challenged’ (and if she is, how come she’s driving in the first place?) this is a rather unusual bail condition for an adult, is it not?

  1. So, what is "adult" then? 80 years old?

It would appear that someone has been economical with the facts!

  4. I wouldn't be too sure that 'mentally challenged' people aren't driving around all the time - the brother of a friend of mine has only just had his licence revoked by the DVLA on the grounds of mental incapacity, despite the fact that for the last 20 years he has been in and out of mental institutions (proper section jobs, in some really secure units too) and has a history of traffic offences when his mental state is unbalanced. They would take his licence away for having umpteen points, but always gave it back when the ban passed. So chances are there's plenty of mentally unstable folk driving around..................

  5. That is what always gets me concerned, when you see these news raports that some one has "invented" a "flying car."

FFS! They are bad enough in TWO dimensions DON'T give them a THIRD to play with!
