I'm sure that if he had done his research before studying for a degree, he would have picked something that is in demand and would have a related job by now.

To be fair Budvar, I read that 28K a year figure as representing household income (her and her husband). I think her wages were reported as about £1,000 a month after tax. Still not breaking my heart over it.

ReplyDeleteMr Budvar your amounts aren't correct but your sentiment is absolutely spot on. Val the supermarket worker who is bothered about her fat daughter not going hungry pulls in £1k a month not £28k a year. The daughter is still ugly and useless though.
As Anonymous has stated at 12:56 Mr Curley has wracked up £80k's worth of debt at Preston Poly as was, my MSc from the same place cost me £4.5k and it has improved my earnings no end. Back to Mr Curley, if he did a three year degree and had fees of £3k a year, which sounds reasonable he has £71k living costs for three years. Which equates to £23k approx. which is untaxed, so he has lived like someone on £30k a year and earning. Didn't do a numerate degree did he.

ReplyDeleteI beg to disagree. Specialising in something at an undergraduate level doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be destined for a career even tangentially related to it.
However, I assume that he took a soft course (how many Physics graduates work in call centres?) and am speechless at the debt that he was allowed to run up.
Which he resents paying back. And I also assume that Anthony Curley thinks it's all Thatcher's fault.
I was astonished, having graduated, that nobody (I mean, nobody) has ever asked to see my degree, and most of my managers never had one themselves.
