Well, Yes, The NHS Has A Staffing Issue, Doctor...

Martin Deahl, 58, who was part of the same volunteer group as the victim and sat next to her on the plane home from Africa, said: ‘The precautions and checks at the airport were shambolic. There seemed to be too few staff and too few rooms or places to put us in.
....maybe because it's expensively trained staff think nothing of gallivanting off to Third World hellholes while British people languish in A&E for hours?

Oh, wait. Did I say 'expensively trained'? Maybe we should ask for our money back?
‘When I heard the news about Pauline, I thought it was a false alarm. I thought she had a fever due to something else. [Ebola] cannot be spread by airborne contact so as long as there was no touching, then there should not have been a problem,’ he said.
‘But most of us went out into the community. Some went for a morning run. I went to church myself on Christmas morning and I have no doubt Pauline probably contracted the virus doing something similar.’
Jesus Christ!

  1. The whole reaction by the government via the health service to the Ebola crisis has been unbelievable, lax. As for these so called professionals - again, words fail. Even POTUS hasn't done what any self respecting disaster movie script writer would do given the circumstances .... mass quarantine for any one returning from affected countries and those dealing directly with affected patients. let's hope those unwitting fellow passengers on all the planes, trains and automobiles are not affected!

  2. What the hell?

If you're in an area of Ebola infection, keep away from the people who might give you infection as much as possible, FFS.

  3. I do hope "let us offer each other a sign of Peace" isn't standard operating procedure in a West African church.

  4. How much difference does survival for Ebola patients improve if a bunch of NHS staff treat them in the third world? I have been trying to track down the stats and have seen a figure of 3% somewhere which is well within the statistical margin of error. So apart from smugness and boring everyone to tears in the pub on their return, what do they actually achieve?

  5. I can't access the Daily Mail link, I get the message telling me that there is too much traffic on that site. Could be a plane crash, or freaking panic. Must watch BBC news charnel.

Remember, these are the same 'experts' who warn against 'third hand smoke'..!

    "What the hell?"

But the Africans are so tactile. One must respect the local culture even if it means one's organs liquefy.

Spot on! And as someone on CiF pointed out, this bloke's a psychiatrist.

How much use is he on the front line anyway?

It's New Year. Bandwidth issues all over the net, I'll bet.
