Cllr Joe Caluori, Islington council’s executive member for children and families, said: “By not having pork on the menus in our schools, we can keep down costs and reduce food waste, maximising the schools meal budget in tough financial circumstances. We meet regularly with our catering contractor and stakeholders, and feedback is that schools are very happy with the food offered by the service.”Eh, what's that? The children..?
Well, who cares about them?

This is all so reminiscent of Chesterton's The Flying Inn, written 100 years ago, where Islam was infiltrated into the country using a health pretext, in that case alcohol. The same weasel words hiding something more sinister from those in authority.
ReplyDeleteWell it is the customer actually.
ReplyDeleteRemember the old internet saying "If you're not paying, you're not the customer".
The customers are actually the bureaucrats in the schools, and they are quite happy - another box ticked, another job-threatening hassle avoided. Smiles all round.
Nothing to do with the children, they can just take what they're given.
Well if i was an Islington parent paying for my kids dinner money, then I want some fuckin Pork!
