Keeping You Safe, Citizen! You Don’t Need To Know The Details…

Police do not know the whereabouts of hundreds of convicted sex offenders in the UK, according to figures published on Tuesday.
A total of 396 registered sex offenders – who are supposed to be monitored by police and inform authorities if they change address – are missing across the UK, with some out of contact with police for more than a decade, according to freedom of information responses to the Press Association.
How terrible! Can the public help you, officers?
Police have refused to name 23 missing sex offenders in case they breach their 'human rights'.
Greater Manchester Police has confirmed that they are missing, including one who disappeared in September 2005, and three who have not been seen since 2006.
Umm…
The MEN asked for the names of all 23 and details of offences they had committed. But in a statement GMP said: "It is not the policy of GMP or the Police Service of England and Wales to routinely name sex offenders whether they are missing or not as this would be a breach of their human rights.
"This also may endanger their safety unnecessarily and may also lead to the identification of victims."
/facepalm
"A large proportion of the recorded missing/wanted sex offenders are either known or believed to be living abroad or have returned to their country of origin.
"Of the 23 registered sex offenders registered in GMP whose whereabouts are currently unknown, 11 are strongly believed to be abroad and checks are in place should they return to the UK.
"The remaining 12 are subject to periodic reviews and enquiries in order to trace them all are circulated as wanted."
Oh, OK, well, we can all sleep safe in our beds knowing the UKBF is on the ca…

Wait.

  1. Why do we pay for them with our taxes?

  2. Blackburn Council found me for a ten year past due payment of £30 in council tax. Maybe they could help here?

It seems to me that any of these people still in the UK can't be working or claiming benefits or own any property or else it would be very easy for someone who can be bothered to look, to find them.

  3. Those cops would scream in horror if they ever came to Washington state. They run PSA's on TV here called Crimestoppers. The PSA's ask for the public's help in either identifying or locating people wanted by the local police. Every so often they are looking to arrest people that have violated the state's sex offenders act. (Convicted sex offenders are required to register their current address with the local police.)

Not only do they give out the wanted persons name but also show a picture of them. (And Crimestoppers, a non-profit, offers a $1,000 reward if your tip results in their apprehension.)

  4. The biggest reason for not announcing such a list of 'missing paedos' is the obvious danger to anyone with similar names/appearance/last known addresses.

Imagine what Bill Smith of Runcorn is going to feel like when a picture that looks a bit like him pops up in the local paper of 'Missing Paedo' William Smith, last known address in Runcorn, or nearby.

Knowing the way the average chav's mind works it wouldn't be a trip to the cop shop to report the missing person, it would be a trip to poor old Bill's house to beat him up, or worse.

Its the general public's Human Rights that need protecting here, not the criminals.

  6. Human rights act- bought in by treacherous scum called Blair so his wife could make a fortune out of it.

I'm not sure if this piece is critical of the police or not.You do realise that the sex offenders are not followed by police 24 hours a day just in case they re-offend don't you? They sign on at various intervals and have to inform us if they want to move house or travel abroad. If they fail to do so then they get arrested if we can find them.Sounds a great law in theory-but don't they all?

  7. Sex offenders / Islamic Terrorists and their sympathisers -same difference. The state police and security services do not have enough HUMAN resources to keep these fuckers under proper surveillance, the police and probation services are overwhelmed by the monitoring requirements of kiddy fiddlers - and it will only get worse as budgets are slashed and financial resources NOT directed to the right places. Equality & Diversity / Human Rights and lawyers like Cherie Blair and Phil Shiner (plenty of those parasites around) and the unwillingness of any party to tackle the HRA head on. As I read once only the legal profession could have sullied the noble ECHR - designed to prevent another holocaust but seemingly used to line pockets and build ncie glass chambers.

It's the 'who can be bothered' bit that's the sticking point...

Excellent! But I suspect ours would show some unwelcome truths.

You're not suggesting a preponderance of 'Mohammeds', are you?
