Instead of trying to liberalise British Islam, the new scheme will focus solely on a message that violence can never be used. A source familiar with the plans said: “If we can get these voices more heard, they are anti-government and therefore more credible in saying do not turn to violence.”You reject the duly elected government of this country, and you wonder why 'Prevent' targets you?
Some of those who will try to turn people away from violence may include conservative Islamic scholars who are considered by government to be extremists. These are people who may have illiberal views on homosexuality or women’s equality.*fetches big bag of popcorn*
The MCB are the extremists. They're quite well-funded, too, I believe.
ReplyDeleteWhen religious beliefs are deeply embedded in a culture no amount of propaganda that is the antithesis of the dogma of that religion is going to have much impact. Apart from disdain and even revulsion. It will not change thinking or actions. Attitudes will not change if anything harden. Tacit support, which is already wide spread in the Muslim community, will morph more readily into material support.
ReplyDeleteIt is the way of faith based beliefs be they religious or political; logic, rational thought and empirical evidence has to be suppressed by all and any means, by force if necessary. Retreat into La la land is first line of defence followed by violence. Faith based beliefs attract not only the faithful but also the powerful who see the manipulation of the faithful as a way to keep power and enhance it. Karl Marx got one thing right when he said "religion is the opiate of the people".
Christian nobles and monarchs for centuries used the church to keep their citizens compliant and to further their aims. Muslim oligarchies, states, dictators and the like have and are doing the same. So if preaching non violence does not suit their needs then no amount of exhortation against it will be effective. As far as I can see jihads and terrorism indeed suit the powerful which is going to do so until all their objectives are met. Many of those objectives are against the West interests. We must face up to that fact and prepare far better than we are as for what we have and are doing is dropping our defences not erecting them.
Perhaps I should have added that we should learn from Muslims because when the crusaders invaded the holy land a Muslim territory they were successful because of Muslim disunity. The Muslims later successfully evicted the crusaders when they united against them. We appear to be seeing the same process occurring today but in reverse. It is the last stage that we now need to seek. A tall order considering who will be the next president of the USA and the shambolic state of the EU.
ReplyDelete"because when the crusaders invaded the holy land a Muslim territory"
ReplyDeleteReally, and what was the territory before it was Muslim?, hmm and what did the Muslims do to the previous inhabitants? While the Muslimes would like to think it was Christians invading, the Crusades were really poor attempts to liberate Christian Lands.
More like the Bible Lands. Anyway, whatever the facts or myths of history it is the present state of affairs which ought to concentrate our minds. Every day another vile act, another exposed lie, another nail in civilisation's coffin. What are our "leaders" thinking, not only stuffing this country to the gunwales with undesirables but paying them with our ****ing money?
ReplyDelete...the Crusades were really poor attempts to liberate Christian Lands.
ReplyDeleteQuite. In fact a very delayed response to more than four centuries of mohammedan persecution of Christian inhabitants of, and pilgrims to, the Holy Land.
I do wish people would be a bit more discerning in their critiques of religion. Not all faiths are the same, and the problem with mohammedanism isn't that is may be a religion, it's that it is mohammedanism.
These are adherents of a religion in which claiming effects relate to causes is blasphemous. Why waste anyone's time on their opinions, if it's all up big A?
ReplyDeleteAchmed the Dead Terrorist makes more sense than the MCB. At least he's honest.
ReplyDelete"They're quite well-funded, too, I believe."
ReplyDeleteThey certainly have the ear of government, for some reason.
"Faith based beliefs attract not only the faithful but also the powerful who see the manipulation of the faithful as a way to keep power and enhance it. "
Spot on!
"What are our "leaders" thinking, not only stuffing this country to the gunwales with undesirables but paying them with our ****ing money?"
VirtueSignalling seems to have become the nation's favourite sport. Or more accurately, obsession.
"I do wish people would be a bit more discerning in their critiques of religion. Not all faiths are the same..."
Indeed not.
