...you know there's no point wasting tears:
Josephine Azadi described the moment she tried to rescue Sheldon Thomas, known as Shellz, after the Volkswagen Golf he was driving smashed into a tree in Parks Road, Oxford, shortly after 5am on May 2.
...
The labourer had been out with friends in Lola Lo nightclub before he left in the hire car with Anthony Pedro, known as Tizzle, in the passenger seat.
Hmmm, just how did the fatal accident occur?
Blood tests showed he was above the legal alcohol limit for driving.
A police investigation revealed he was also driving at about 50mph in the 20mph road and had not been wearing a seatbelt.
Yup. That'll do it...
Coroner Mr Chipperfield ... concluded accidental death and told Mr Thomas' family he was 'very sorry' for his loss.
Why...?
Also not "...he smashed the VW onto a tree....."
ReplyDeleteAn almost unbearable incident had he been christened Shih Tzu, Julia.
ReplyDeleteI assume the hire car wasn't from Enterprise, as they claim they go the extra mile, in which case he wouldn't have hit a tree unless there was another one a mile down the road. Sad really. Still, as ye drink and drive, so shall ye pop your clogs.

Accidental death? Didn't we used to have something called death by misadventure? It seems that this would have been more appropriate.

'Coroner Mr Chipperfield ... concluded accidental death and told Mr Thomas' family he was 'very sorry' for his loss.’
ReplyDeleteWhy? What had Mr Chipperfield lost?
Well, perhaps because as a coroner you can't legally record a verdict of death by Darwinian fuckwittery, and it's good form to not speak ill of the recently deceased (even be they fuckwits); especially in front of their family?
ReplyDelete"Also not "...he smashed the VW onto a tree.....""
ReplyDeleteYes, good point! When they bring in self-driving cars, what are journalists to write..? ;)
"Still, as ye drink and drive, so shall ye pop your clogs.
"
About time we celebrated these deaths (where no innocents were harmed) rather than call them 'tragedies'.
"...and it's good form to not speak ill of the recently deceased (even be they fuckwits); especially in front of their family?"
But this regarding of their untimely end as a 'tragedy' is not much of a deterrent, is it? We should condemn a little more, and understand a little less, as someone once said.
"Shellz"? Lolz!
