Chavilicious!

The vignette of modern life that is the Essex policewoman's killer dog story hurls another pint of accelerant onto the PR bonfire:
A justgiving page has been set up by Mrs Labbett’s close friend, Teresa Williams, to raise funds for the funeral costs and for further care of Daniel-Jay.
She is also holding a fundraising night in Dovercourt on November 26.
I know police farces are supposed to 'reflect the community they serve', but isn't this going a bit too far?

  1. Having repeatedly read this and the associated stories, I confess that my tiny intellect is still struggling to isolate the significant differences in cases 1 and 2.

But I am just an simpleton, eagerly awaiting 'enlightningment' from the blog's resident policing expert. In the simplest lay terms if you please, WPC Jaded.

  2. I guess that only those who live in Essex and have done for all their lives can truly understand how Essex Police works. The ever lowering standard of recruits and the endemic 'us and them' culture means they are beginning to make the Met look good. Incidentally, it is rumoured that the current Chief Constable of Essex Stephen Kavanagh is a shoe in for the top job at the met when Hoagan-Howe departs. I suppose it's a pretty good fit when you think about it.

  3. I see the Evening Standard joins the list of newspapers with no "subs".

Essex Coroner’s Officer, David Dinnell, opening details of the case, said: “Archie Darby was a four-month-old baby being held in his mother’s arms when he was taken out his mother’s arms and attacked the family dog.”

  4. Accelerant on the bonfire? That's exactly what I've just come in from - an all day bonfire. Very smoky clothes.

  5. The police are very conspicuous by 'there' absence. Bitten by a police dog, Jaded?

  6. Melvin my 27 years in the Met cannot possibly compare to your policing expertise.
    Had a lawnmower stolen.
Got thrown into a canal by police when a student.
    "Caught a burglar "
    Avid Daily Mail reader.
I bow to your smug superiority.

  7. @ WC Jaded. It gives me no pleasure to learn that you were once the victim of a lawnmower theft and had suffered a dunking in some Essex waterway. And you must never genuflect to others with whom you have nothing in common.

There appears to be only one, and it's the obvious one.

"The ever lowering standard of recruits and the endemic 'us and them' culture means they are beginning to make the Met look good. "

Sadly, the recent 'The Force: Essex' tv show has done nothing to disprove this.

And welcome back, MitB! Your blog has sadly been hijacked.

    Oh, good grief!
