All In All It's Just Another Brick In The Wall

More than 100 parents have signed a petition after a school told them they will have to buy their children new uniforms for September. Longhill High School in Rottingdean says the new uniform will be smarter and help improve standards.
But parents have reacted with anger after being told they will have to fork out for a new “gender-neutral uniform” comprising a navy blue blazer, tie, grey trousers and PE kit to be bought from the school’s supplier.
WTAF...?
The petition says: “Against most parents’ wishes, the school are implementing a compulsory change of uniform with only the shirts able to be bought from any store.
Many parents have already paid for the current, compulsory uniform, only available through the nominated supplier in the region of £150 for the year.
“No feasible explanation has been given for the change other than to ‘improve standards’.”
Now, I'm all for uniforms in schools, and I usually have little time for parents who whinge about them...but this is absurd!

They've bought the uniform you recommended, they can't be expected to fork out more money for some whim.
But school bosses said the current uniform was frequently criticised by parents of pupils and of prospective Year 7 entrants.
In a letter to parents, headteacher Kate Williams said: “We are committed to raising standards at Longhill and part of this is the improvement of the current standard of uniform. We are working hard to ensure we will have a cost-effective smart uniform that will be followed consistently by all.”
She added: "We believe that a uniform promotes and inspires pride and commitment to something greater than oneself. Longhill High school is on a journey of improvement and this is just one small part of the journey.
"We very much appreciate the support of the vast majority of parents in our drive to carry on improving standards at Longhill."
PARKLIFE!
It comes following a consultation on uniform last year in which parents’ biggest concern was cost.
Can teachers so dim really impart anything to their charges?

  1. You have to remember teachers are very well paid these days, particularly at the higher levels of seniority, who would be the sort of ones making this decision. To them an extra £150 would be what they splurge on a particularly good meal out one evening, so why is everyone making such a fuss about a such a small amount????? (for example I know a chap who is a history teacher at a local comp, he gets paid £45k/yr, he admitted this to me personally once. He is a Head of Year but otherwise not in any great management role. He's also only 30)

  2. I trust the teaching and supporting staff will also wear this gender neutral uniform in order to give an example of pride in their school. No? I thought not.

  3. Expensive uniforms that can only be obtained from an official supplier at four times the price have been used in the past as a way to raise standards by keeping out the plebs. The supplier pays a back hander to the school for providing them with a monopoly and the parents are happy to fork out extra for the uniform because it is cheaper than going private.

  4. "... gender-neutral uniform ..."
Aha! The latest cry from the Left to ensure conformity to the "Perfect Citizen".
    You WILL obey!

  5. Thank you for the "PARKLIFE" insertion into that quote. That really made me laugh.

  6. The insensitive Islamophobic and misogynistic bastards! Surely in solidarity with the Religion-of-fluffy-bunnies all female gender designates should wear burkhas while male gender designates should wear skirts so that they are constantly reminded of the male oppression of women. Gender non specifics and self-perceived non-binaries are the only ones who should be allowed to wear the gender neutral outfit. I say this on jest, but never underestimate the fuckwittery of the wankers of the NUT, NASWT and the like. Bing on the gender free khazis.

  7. "...Can teachers so dim really impart anything to their charges?.."

Of course:- look at almost any Students' Union and/or social media to see exactly what they've achieved.

Now "...Can teachers so dim really impart anything worthwhile to their charges?.." is an entirely different question.

A pox on them all and a plague on all their houses!

  8. "You have to remember teachers are very well paid these days..."

Given how many spend their time pleading poverty in the pages of the progressive press, I don't think I'll chalk that little bit of forgetfulness up to old age...

"I trust the teaching and supporting staff will also wear this gender neutral uniform..."

    Heh!

"...have been used in the past as a way to raise standards by keeping out the plebs."

    Now that's a capital idea!

"A pox on them all and a plague on all their houses!"

    Amen!
