They've Surrendered...

A Met spokesman said: “A tweet posted by @MPSLewisham at 23.56pm on August 30 was erroneous and did not reflect the values and work ethic of Lewisham borough or indeed the MPS.
“This is why it was removed.
A new message has since been tweeted by @MPSLewisham. “Every call matters to us. Dealing with vulnerable missing people and attending calls related to mental health issues is a vital part of everyday policing.”
Admittedly, that'll be no surprise to anyone who has paid attention, will it?

  1. "So busy dealing with the fallout from mental health issues and ‘missing’ people don’t have time to fight crime." + "Not sure if searching for a stabbing victim and firearms suspects is unnecessary, but apologies if you were disturbed."

Every motorist has some private roadside experience of his offhand 'Ihre Papiere' manner and oppressive mockery. These days, the new Mr Plod is sufficiently casual to post his feculence on social merde until higher ranks apply a veneer of caution and civility over crude public announcements.

  2. When Home Secretary, St Theresa of the May said that the role of the Police was to fight crime. In that case, why is she, as Prime Minister, allowing them to spend time looking for for missing persons and dealing with those who have mental health issues? It's not as if they are successful at it. They haven't yet dealt with Melv, who is still there, whinging about imagined personal wrongdoings. Melvin the paedophile still hadn't been banged up yet, either.

  3. i follow Lancs Police on Twitter and there is a 'missing' persons appeal every day, usually followed up in a couple of hours by the person being found safe and well. No mention if they're ever prosecuted for wasting police time

Yes, they get very tedious. The unintentionally humorous ones are where the photo accompanying the appeal is so obviously a police mugshot!
